Kutch (Gujarat): At a
time when farmers are
protesting against the
three farm laws, Prime
Minister Narendra
Modi said here on
Tuesday that a conspir-
acy is going on in and
around Delhi to con-
fuse farmers.
The Prime Minister
was speaking at Dhordo
in Kutch, Gujarat dur-
ing foundation stone
laying ceremony of sev-
eral development pro-
jects in the state. These
projects include a de-
salination plant, a hy-
brid renewable energy
park, and a fully auto-
mated milk processing
and packing plant.
Chief Minister of Guja-
rat Vijay Rupani was
present on the occasion.
“Farmers are being
misled about the new
agrarian reforms. They
are being told that oth-
ers will occupy their
lands. The agriculture
reforms that have taken
place are exactly what
farmer bodies and even
Opposition have been
asking over the years.
Government of India is
always committed to
farmer welfare and we
will keep assuring the
farmers and addressing
their concerns,” he said.
“People who are sit-
ting in the opposition
and misleading farmers
today were in the favour
of these farm reforms
during their govern-
ment. They could not
make a decision during
their government. To-
day when the nation has
taken a historical step
then these people are
misleading farmers,”
he added.
Remembering the
2001 earthquake in
Kutch that caused huge
destruction in the area,
the Prime Minister said
people of Kutch have
turned disappointment
into hope, and it is one
of the fastest develop-
ing areas in the country
today.
“Today Kutch has
taken a big step towards
new-age technology and
new age economy. It is
one of the fastest devel-
oping areas in the coun-
try. Connectivity is im-
proving here day by day.
People of Kutch turned
disappointment into
hope,’ PM Modi said.
He said that even a
big earthquake couldn’t
shatter the morale of
Kutch residents and
over the last 20 years,
Gujarat introduced
many farmer-friendly
schemes.
“Everyone stood-up
again after the quake
and now look where
have they taken Kutch...
Gujarat was among the
earliest to work on
strengthening solar en-
ergy capacities...Today
Kutch has the world’s
largest hybrid renewal
energy park. It is ap-
proximately as big a

However, RSS volun-

Jaipur: The executive
committee of the Jai
Club has suspended
the former president of
the club Dilip Shivpuri
for one year. Shivpuri,
who is a former chief in-
come tax commissioner,
will now stay away from
the elections of the pres-
tigious Jai club.Sources
said that the executive
took decisions following
allegations against him
about irregularities in
the construction of
guest house. He has held
the post of Jai club pres-
ident six times.
On one side there
has been decline in
income due to the
corona crisis, on the
other the govern-
ment is constantly
increasing prices of
gas with which the
domestic budget is
disturbed and it is
getting tougher to
meet expenses.
It seems that the
Central government
has lost control of
the oil companies.
The subsidy is
also abolished,
where should the
general public go.
The government
should withdraw the
increased prices with
immediate effect.
First petrol and
now hike in LPG
prices show that
the intention of
the government
is to squeeze the
poor in a crisis
like Corona. After
all, the govern-
ment should
clarify what its
intention is.
Despite the price
hike on domestic
gas cylinders, no
decision has been
taken on subsidy.
This means that
subsidy will not
be available even
if the Rs. 100 per
cylinder rate is
increased.

Kota: Troubles seem
to be increasing gradu-
ally for the authorities
owing to the death of
newborn babies at the
JK Lon Hospital.
Members of the
Bhartiya Janta Yuva
Morcha took out a ral-
ly on Tuesday seeking
strict action against
the culprits and pro-
tested against such ig-
norance.
State Chairperson
Himanshu Sharma
blamed the hospital
administration for
protecting the culprits.
He also said that the
facilities at the hospi-
tal are worse, they are
understaffed and the
medical equipment
are non-functional.
He also criticised
the government for
failing at figuring out
the cause of the deaths
of the babies.
Bhartiya Janta Yuva
Morcha has also given
a warning that they
will resort to tremen-
dous protests if strict
action is not taken.
Responding to Con-

doing politics over
children’s deaths,
Himanshu Sharma-
said that those who
talk about politics in
this case are of sev-
ered mentality.
They are the ones
doing politics by sav-

any managers
are treating
this year’s pan-
demic-induced
shift to work
from home as though it
were standard telecom-
muting. But it’s not, and
operating under the as-
sumption that it is can ulti-
mately harm employees’
morale. While office work-
ers are typically faring bet-
ter than essential workers
during the pandemic, the
abrupt shift to remote work
was jarring, and its effects
should not be overlooked.
Leadership experts and
cognitive scientists can at-
test that resistance to
change is less about the
change itself and more
about losing control and
fear of uncertainty. Hu-
mans – and other animals,
for that matter – respond
defensively when the pow-
er to make decisions about
their own lives is removed.
And in a recent study on
COVID-19 and mental
health, researchers found
that adults surveyed in the
United States and five Eu-
ropean countries who be-
lieve that other people or
random chance mostly dic-
tates what happens to them
also report greater symp-
toms of depression.
There’s a big difference
between choosing to tele-
commute and suddenly be-
ing forced to work from
home. While eliminating
the daily commute has
been nice, the average of-
fice worker simply wasn’t
mentally or financially pre-
pared to turn their home
into a makeshift WeWork
location while also taking
on previously outsourced
teaching, childcare, and el-
dercare duties. Many fami-
lies do not live in homes
that can easily accommo-
date telecommuting, and
some employees’ domestic
arrangements are not con-
ducive to success.
Managers can take sev-
eral steps to ease these bur-
dens for their employees.
Set reasonable expecta-
tions: Many employees are
bearing new burdens and
facing pressure from multi-
ple sources. Managers can
avoid overwhelming them
by eliminating unneces-
saryreportsandredundant
procedures, and by being as
transparent as possible
about deadlines. For exam-
ple, if an important client
meeting is postponed, man-
agers should inform every-
one who is preparing mate-
rials for it immediately, so
they can reprioritize the
day’s tasks. Likewise, man-
agers shouldn’t expect im-
mediate replies to emails –
aconstantsenseof urgency
contributes to employee
burnout. Sending emails
outside of working hours
(especially late at night and
on weekends) should be
avoided, or staff shouldn’t
be expected (much less re-
quired) to answer after-
hours messages immedi-
ately.
Don’t force employees to
be “on” all the time: Zoom
fatigue is sky high, and em-
ployeesmayhavetomanage
quietspacesothatallhouse-
hold members can partici-
pateintheirrespectivework
calls and video meetings.
Womenusuallygettheshort
end of the stick, with one
author dubbing them “re-
luctantnomads”inthe“bat-
tle for space.” For example,
anemployeemightfindher-
self perched on the edge of
the bathtub, precariously
balancing a computer on
her knees, so that her part-
ner and children can con-
ducttheirbusinessorschool
work from the living room,
bedroom, and kitchen. And
women tend to face unfair
criticism and pressure over
their appearance on Zoom.
Managers should ask
whetheranymeetingscould
beeliminated,shortened,or
conducted without video.

Soldiering has been a noble

profession of arms was always
associated with pride, dignity,

CHANAKYA TEACHINGS
The role of a soldier in nation-
building and duty of king to-
wards the welfare of soldiers
has been clearly defined by
great Indian strategic thinker
Chanakya - “While the Magad-
hacitizenryendeavourstomake
the State prosper and flourish,
theMauryansoldierguarantees
that the State continues to exist!
……..” It’s so true even today.
RECENT DOWNGRADINGS
The teachings of Chanakya
have been forgotten by the pre-
sent leadership. It’s very unfor-
tunate that the expenditure on
defence forces is not seen as in-
surance by having a force of
deterrencebutseenthroughthe
prism of an auditor. As we say-
War over, the soldier is soon for-
gotten. The auditor forgets the
bodies and devastated families
andstartscountingthepennies.
In the recent past, we have seen
high rhetoric on nationalism,
soldiers sacrifices and pride as
a political narrative but the ero-
sion of pride, respect, dignity,
pay, pension, perks, and privi-
leges of defence forces, with re-
sultant damage to the martial
streak in our country. This indi-
cates apathy of Govt towards
defence forces. The same mis-
take was done by Govt prior to
1962 debacle. A few examples of
the same are highlighted here-
	z Gradual reduction in defence
budget as percentage of GDP.
	z Taxing disability pensions and
statements by senior offic-
ers to say that disability is all
manipulated.
z Not giving NFU status while the
same is being given to civilians
and CAPF.
	z Granting truncated OROP to
ESM and the same being given
to even bank employees.
	z Gradually reducing avenues
of post retirement settlement
through Directorate General of
Resettlement.
	z Imposing restrictions on CSD
Canteen purchases on pretext
of misuse, painting all ESM
and as profiteers.
	z Starving ECHS of funds,
thereby making the scheme
almost redundant.
z The Siachin and J&K allowanc-
es for the military are far below
that of CAPF and police.
z Throwing open the cantts to
civilians, thereby compromis-
ing the security and privacy of
soldiers.
	z Proposal to reduce pensions
on the pretext of ballooning
defence pension bills. Detailed
analysis indicates the contrary.
	z Proposal to Close down
ceremonials like Army Day Pa-
rade, Vijay Diwas, Kargil Vijay,
Battle Honour Days and Rais-
ing Day celebrations. These are
celebrated the world over.
z Proposal to close down or
curtail Officer’s Messes and
Clubs on the name of austerity
measures.

CONCLUSION
Vijay Diwas is a symbol of
Pride for the Indian Armed
Forces. Such celebrations, all
across the globe reminds the
citizens about the valour and
sacrifices of our soldiers. The
nation also pays tribute to the
bravehearts who did not come
back home after the war. The
Armed Forces have created a
niche for itself, in the society
projecting itself as a role model
in the crumbling edifice of pre-
sent social structure. Even the
Ex-service-men are highly re-
spected in the society, since
they stand out due to their dis-
ciplined life, nationalistic atti-
tude, and helping nature which
they carry home from Army
life, even after retirement. If
India aspires to become a su-
perpower in 21st century, it
should take pride in achieve-
ments of it’s Defence Forces
and respect its soldiers includ-
ing veterans. On this GOLDEN

et session began in January. Joshi said that the ses-
sion was being scrapped in view of the pandemic.
The winter session was earlier cancelled in 1975,
1979, and 1984. The government is under no consti-
tutional obligation to hold the winter session. The
Constitution mandates that there should not be a
gap of more than six months between two sessions
of Parliament.
The government may have scrapped the winter
sessionduetoCovid-19butthemessagethathasgone
out is that it is shying away from a democratic pro-
cess because there have been instances like Telan-

when the BJP has violated the necessary Covid pro-
tocols. The Congress called it the “complete decima-
tionof parliamentarydemocracy”andremindedthe
government of how it held NEET and JEE examina-
tions when the pandemic was at its peak.
The government’s reason for not holding the
winter session also beats all logic as the positive
case load has come down to a little over 3 percent.

in 2011, her victory was attributed to her
street-fighter qualities. After becoming
the chief minister she remained calm for some time
but returned to her old ways not long after as she
never eased pressure on the Central government of
the day. Mamata’s militant style of politics first
grabbed headlines when on January 7, 1993, she
bargedintotheWriters’Buildingsandsatonadhar-

Before the parliamentary elections of 2019, her
government kept up her offensive against the BJP-
led coalition government at the Centre over the
Saradha chit fund scam. When the CBI team land-
ed in Kolkata to interrogate Police Commissioner
Rajiv Kumar, it was detained by the local police.
Mamata began an indefinite dharna at Esplanade
against the CBI’s move in the absence of a “gen-
eral consent” to the investigative agency to probe
cases in the state without permission.
In 2013 she was ordered by the Supreme Court to
abide by the State Election Commissioner’s (SEC)
order for five-phase panchayat elections in the
state. Mamata had challenged the SEC’s order to
deploy additional central forces for the elections.
It is almost an action replay as political tem-

the TMC over law and order. The BJP has urged
the Election Commissioner to deploy additional
central forces and impose the model code of con-
duct in the state six months ahead of elections.

Jaipur: The reappoint-
ment and renewal of
tenure of Rajasthan
Handloom Develop-
ment Corporation’s
chief general manager
Nayab Khan, despite
several irregularities in
the corporation’s func-
tioning under him, has
raised several ques-
tions.
The corporation,
which was constituted
with the an objective to
promote the cotton han-
dloom textile sector in
the state, has been wit-
nessing downfall in
work in the last one dec-
ade and many officials
and other staff have re-
tired but the case of
Khan stands out.
After retirement in
2017, Khan was reap-
pointed and it is being
renewed every year de-
spite several irregulari-
ties in the functioning.
When Subodh Agarwal
was the chairman of
the corporation, he
cleared his file and later
Naresh Pal Gangwar
gave approval on the re-
newal of his reappoint-
ment.Next chairman
Alok refused to clear
the file with a remark
of ‘no’ but Alok got
transferred and the new
chairman turned ‘no’
into ‘yes’ and green sig-
nal was given for the
renewal of Khan’s reap-
pointment.
Sources in the corpo-
ration say that working
style of Khan is highly
questionable and he
takes arbitrary deci-
sions but he manages to
get extension every
time, which is taking a
toll on the functioning
of the corporation.
When KK Pathak was
the commissioner of in-
dustries, he had detect-
ed irregularities with
regards to societies in
2018 but before any ac-
tion could be initiated
against him, Pathak
was transferred.The
post of corporation MD
is held by the deputy
secretary of industries
department and when
Subham Chaudhary
was the MD, efforts
were made to check the
irregularities. ST14 tigress was seen with two cubs in the camera trap.

achievements has been unable to

needs to learn to respect it more.

Jaipur: With a robust
Covid management and
effective tackling of
healthcare needs, the
medical and health de-
partment led by Health
Minister Raghu Shar-
ma has positioned Ra-
jasthan ahead of other
states in the country,
that too in a time of cri-
sis caused by Covid-19.
The state has made a
distinct identity in the
country and in the
world in covid manage-
ment with bringing
death rate as low as 0.86
percent, whereas, more
than 91 percent corona
patients have recovered
due to better medical
care and facilities.
While the covid man-
agement of the state
was lauded nationally,
the state government
took many decisions to
strengthen the medical
and health sector which
has been the key prior-
ity area for the Ashok
Gehlot government
ever since it came to
power in December
2018.
Talking about the
performance of his de-
partment, the Health
Minister Raghu Shar-
ma said most of the
promises, related to
medical and health,
made in the election
manifesto were fulfilled
in the two years.
He said that ‘Nirogi
Rajasthan’ campaign
was launched in the
state last year, with a vi-
sion to help every citi-
zen in staying healthy
and the campaign
proved its significance
in fight against the co-
rona pandemic.
Rajasthan’s treat-
ment protocol was ac-
knowledged at the
world level. Plasma
therapy was also start-
ed and lives of many
patients who were in
critical condition were
saved.
He said that there
was no shortage of
manpower and 735 doc-
tors were given appoint-
ment in the first phase.
In the second phase, the
recruitment process of
2,000 doctors is almost
complete and posting
will be given to all suc-
cessful physicians on 17
December.
Nearly 26.65 lakh pa-
tients were provided
general medical servic-
es through mobile OPD
vans in curfew areas.
89 percent children
were fully vaccinated in
the year 2019-20.
The minister in-
formed that work on
starting medical tour-
ism centers under PPP
mode was also started
at 20 places.
During the last two
years, 200 new sub cen-
tres, 112 new PHCs, 52
new CHCs, one satellite
and one sub district
hospital, two new dis-
trict hospitals were
started.

REPORT CARD
CM approves 1,500 more CHO posts under National Health Mission
Now, instead of 6,310 posts for CHOs, a total of 7,810 posts will be filled on contract basis, said officials
Yogesh Sharma
Jaipur: Chief Minister
Ashok Gehlot has ap-
proved the proposal to
add 1,500 additional
posts in the recruit-
ment process for Com-
munity Health Officers
(CHOs) under the Na-
tional Health Mission
(NHM), officials said on
Tuesday.
Now, instead of 6,310
posts for CHOs, a total
of 7,810 posts will be
filled on contract basis.
In view of difficulty
in conducting repeated
examinations due the
COVID-19 pandemic,
the number of posts has
been increased. This
will ensure services in
health centres in far-
flung areas of the state
and provide more em-
ployment opportunities
in the health sector to
the local youth, Gehlot
said in a statement.
Under the Ayushman
Bharat Abhiyan, all
health institutions up
to the sub-health centre
level in Rajasthan are to
be made functional as
‘’Health and Wellness
Centres’’ by 2022.
For this, the adver-
tisement for the recruit-
ment of 6,310 posts was
issued on August 31 and
a written examination
was also conducted.
The contract workers
will be paid honorari-
um and incentives un-
der the provisions of
Project Implementation
Plan (PIP) of the NHM.
In the meanwhile, all
the ministers of Ra-
jasthan government
will be visiting districts
for two days on comple-
tion of two years of
Ashok Gehlot -led Con-
gress government of
Rajasthan.
They will review the
implementation of ma-
jor schemes of the gov-
ernment in districts
and inform about the
public welfare works
done by the government
in the last two years.
All the members of
the cabinet will be visit-
ing various districts on
December 19 and 20 and
will also hold meetings
with the district- level
officials.
Chief Minister
Ashok Gehlot has in-
structed all ministers to
jointly visit three dis-
tricts and review the
state government’s flag-
ship schemes and coro-
na virus management
with district- level offi-
cials. Teams of two
ministers will visit
three districts. During
this period, the situa-
tion arising out of the
corona pandemic and
the major schemes and
programmess of the
state government will
be reviewed. Press con-
ference will also be held
at local level in addition
to issuing booklets for
publicizing the achieve-
ments of government.

Jaipur: Even after a de-
cision at the level of
Chief Minister, the mat-
ter of transfer of lands
from JDA to Rajasthan
Housing Board for the
construction of multi-
storey apartments for
MLAs is left in limbo.
A meeting was held
by Chief Secretary
Niranjan Arya on the
issue of land transfer,
but the decision was left
to UDH Minister Shanti
Dhariwal and Assem-
bly Speaker CP Joshi.
This exposes the
claim of good govern-
ance that even the deci-
sions taken at the CM’s
level are not being exe-
cuted.
For the construction
of the multi-storey
housing for MLAs, the
lands of Vidhayak na-
gar east and Jalupura
have to be transferred
to the Housing Board,
but the decision has
not been executed so
far.
The assembly speak-
er & UDH Minister too
had decided for the
same in a meeting of
cabinet sub-committee
and assembly commit-
tee. The meeting held
by CS remained incon-
clusive as the decision
was left to the UDH
Minister and Assembly
Speaker, who already
had decided to transfer
the lands to RHB.

Jaipur: Chief Secre-

ated for keeping alive
the love of the migrant

dation is acting as an
intermediary to ensure
that Rajasthanis, who
are settled out of the
state, remain connected
emotionally and also
become partners in the
development of the

The Prime Minister was speaking at Dhordo in Kutch, Gujarat dur- ing foundation stone laying ceremony of sev- eral development pro- jects in the state. These projects include a de- salination plant, a hy- brid renewable energy park, and a fully auto- mated milk processing and packing plant. Chief Minister of Guja- rat Vijay Rupani was present on the occasion. “Farmers are being misled about the new agrarian reforms. They are being told that oth- ers will occupy their lands. The agriculture reforms that have taken place are exactly what farmer bodies and even Opposition have been asking over the years. Government of India is always committed to farmer welfare and we will keep assuring the farmers and addressing their concerns,” he said. “People who are sit- ting in the opposition and misleading farmers today were in the favour of these farm reforms during their govern- ment. They could not make a decision during their government. To- day when the nation has taken a historical step then these people are misleading farmers,” he added. Remembering the 2001 earthquake in Kutch that caused huge destruction in the area, the Prime Minister said people of Kutch have turned disappointment into hope, and it is one of the fastest develop- ing areas in the country today. “Today Kutch has taken a big step towards new-age technology and new age economy. It is one of the fastest devel- oping areas in the coun- try. Connectivity is im- proving here day by day. People of Kutch turned disappointment into hope,’ PM Modi said. He said that even a big earthquake couldn’t shatter the morale of Kutch residents and over the last 20 years, Gujarat introduced many farmer-friendly schemes. “Everyone stood-up again after the quake and now look where have they taken Kutch... Gujarat was among the earliest to work on strengthening solar en- ergy capacities...Today Kutch has the world’s largest hybrid renewal energy park. Raje, the national vice president of BJP, the scheme was launched to improve the children’s future but the government has not backed even from making the future dark- er for a large number of small ones of the state. “For the all round de- velopment of children, we had taken every step fromeducationtohealth, so that their future could be bright and they could become partners in the development of this na- tion.Inthisdirection,we envisaged a healthy Ra- jasthan by starting An- napurnaMilkSchemeto nourish 63 lakh chil- dren,” Raje tweeted. BJP leaders Kalich- aran Saraf, Vasudev Devnani, and Ramlal Sharma also said that the government is clos- ing all public-welfare schemes started during the previous BJP govt. Cong not working for public welfare: Raje CLOSURE OF ANNAPURNA MILK SCHEME  BJP leaders also said that the government is closing all public-welfare schemes started during the previous BJP government Badebandi, horse-trading, hybrid formula to grab chairmen postsThere is rebellion in the BJP cadres in Raisinghnagar municipality in Sri Ganganagar URBAN LOCAL BODIES CHAIRMAN NOMINATIONS First India Bureau Jaipur: After the re- sults of the urban local bodiesinthe12districts, the ruling Cong and the opposition BJP are in the race to form the boards for horse-trading is being adopted. The elections for the post of chairman will be held on December 20. There is rebellion in the BJP cadres in Rais- inghnagar municipali- ty in Sri Ganganagar. BJP made Manish Kaushal as its candi- date who filed the nom- ination on Tuesday. However, RSS volun- teer and BJP councilor Ashok Goyal also sub- mitted his nomination as an independent can- didate. The nomination by Goyal has put brakes on the BJP’s move to get Kaushal elected un- opposed. During the nomina- tion, Goyal was accom- panied by party leaders Om Saraswat, Bhavani Dabhai, Hakm Singh Gill, Vijay Saraswat, and a number of mem- bers belonging to MP Nihalchand Meghwal camp. Their presence with Goyal laid bare in the internal conflict in the party cadres. The situation will be clear after the withdrawal date of December 17. In Karauli and Al- war’s Kishangarhbas and Khairthal, the par- ties are adopting the hybrid formula to get chairman elected. For Karauli city council chairman post, Leela Devi filed her nomina- tion without getting elected as a councillor. Harish Rogha, who lost the election in Khairthal, has filed nomination for the post of chairman from BJP. As an option, Sumit Rogha also filled the form and Vikram Chaudhary filed a nom- ination from Congress. In the hybrid formu- la, a member who is not a councillor can file a nomination, but after being elected as the chairman, the person will have to win the election of a councillor from any ward within the stipulated period. Singh played a strategic role by hold- ing the party symbols before the elections and making his supporters contest the election as independents. Taksalia thanked Vishvendra Singh, the newly elected coun- cilors and citizens of Deeg. As no other can- didate filed nomination for the post on Tuesday, the last day for filing the nomination, Tak- salia is sure to get se- lected for the post. Vishvendra holding the party symbols had shocked the party lead- ership also but he had assured that the Con- gress would form the boards in urban local bodies in Bharatpur. First India Bureau Jaipur: The LPG pric- es stung the common people second time this month on Tuesday when the gas compa- nies increased Rs 50 per domestic cylinder and Rs 36.50 per com- mercial cylinder. A similar price hike was witnessed in the domestic cylinder with which it has got costlier by Rs 100 within 13 days. Earli- er, on December 2, the prices of domestic gas and commercial gas were raised. Now 14.2 kg domestic gas cylinder will be available for Rs. 698 this month. The com- mercial cylinder will cost Rs 1343.50. State general secretary of the LPG Distributor Federation, Kartikey Gaur said that despite the price hike on do- mestic gas cylinders, no decision has been taken on subsidy. Due to an increase in domestic gas pric- es, one crore 75 lakh consumers and 63 lakh consumers of Ujjwala scheme will be affected. Bharat Dixit Jaipur: Kiran Path chauraha (intersec- tion) in Mansarovar will now be called as Maa Gayatri chaura- ha. Similarly, the link road between Kiran Path and Varun Path has also been re- named as Mata Bhag- wati Path. In this re- gard, Dr Arun Garg, Additional Commis- sioner, Municipal Corporation, Jaipur Greater, issued the re- spective orders. This order was ap- proved by newly elect- ed Greater’s Mayor Dr Saumya Gurjar and the Commissioner of Municipal Corpora- tion Greater after the proposal of the Execu- tive of Greater Munic- ipal Corporation. Post-approval, the Mu- nicipal Corporation Jaipur Greater Ad- ministration released the orders of the name change on Tuesday. First India Bureau Bharatpur: Jat com- munity from Bharatpur and Dholpur to stage protests and demand for reservation in the OBC category. The pro- test will take place on December 25. This is also the sacrificial day of the establisher of Bharatpur, Maharaja Suraj Mal. In a press conference on Monday, the conven- er of Bharatpur-Dhol- pur Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti, Nem Singh Faujdar said, “The Jats of Bharatpur and Dholpur are de- manding to be recog- nised as OBC for a long time. We also arranged for mahapanchayat 20 days ago to usher our demands. The state govt was given 20 days notice to communicate their demands to the central government, but no ac- tion has been taken so far. This means that the government only un- derstands the language of protest.” Jat leaders have de- clared that they will pro- test rigorously, blocking railways and state and national highways. First India Bureau Jaipur: The executive committee of the Jai Club has suspended the former president of the club Dilip Shivpuri for one year. Shivpuri, who is a former chief in- come tax commissioner, will now stay away from the elections of the pres- tigious Jai club.Sources said that the executive took decisions following allegations against him about irregularities in the construction of guest house. He has held the post of Jai club pres- ident six times. On one side there has been decline in income due to the corona crisis, on the other the govern- ment is constantly increasing prices of gas with which the domestic budget is disturbed and it is getting tougher to meet expenses. It seems that the Central government has lost control of the oil companies. The subsidy is also abolished, where should the general public go. The government should withdraw the increased prices with immediate effect. First petrol and now hike in LPG prices show that the intention of the government is to squeeze the poor in a crisis like Corona. After all, the govern- ment should clarify what its intention is. Despite the price hike on domestic gas cylinders, no decision has been taken on subsidy. This means that subsidy will not be available even if the Rs. 100 per cylinder rate is increased. —Diksha Mehta Homemaker, Mansarovar —Asha Homemaker, Agra Road —Sunil Kumar Mansarovar resident —Kartikey Gaur Gen secretary, LPG distributor federation First India Bureau Jaipur: Former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot will be on a tour of Ajmer district on Wednesday. Editor: Anita Hada Sangwan responsible for selection of news under the PRB Act any managers are treating this year’s pan- demic-induced shift to work from home as though it were standard telecom- muting. But it’s not, and operating under the as- sumption that it is can ulti- mately harm employees’ morale. While office work- ers are typically faring bet- ter than essential workers during the pandemic, the abrupt shift to remote work was jarring, and its effects should not be overlooked. Leadership experts and cognitive scientists can at- test that resistance to change is less about the change itself and more about losing control and fear of uncertainty. Hu- mans – and other animals, for that matter – respond defensively when the pow- er to make decisions about their own lives is removed. And in a recent study on COVID-19 and mental health, researchers found that adults surveyed in the United States and five Eu- ropean countries who be- lieve that other people or random chance mostly dic- tates what happens to them also report greater symp- toms of depression. There’s a big difference between choosing to tele- commute and suddenly be- ing forced to work from home. While eliminating the daily commute has been nice, the average of- fice worker simply wasn’t mentally or financially pre- pared to turn their home into a makeshift WeWork location while also taking on previously outsourced teaching, childcare, and el- dercare duties. Many fami- lies do not live in homes that can easily accommo- date telecommuting, and some employees’ domestic arrangements are not con- ducive to success. Managers can take sev- eral steps to ease these bur- dens for their employees. Set reasonable expecta- tions: Many employees are bearing new burdens and facing pressure from multi- ple sources. Managers can avoid overwhelming them by eliminating unneces- saryreportsandredundant procedures, and by being as transparent as possible about deadlines. For exam- ple, if an important client meeting is postponed, man- agers should inform every- one who is preparing mate- rials for it immediately, so they can reprioritize the day’s tasks. Likewise, man- agers shouldn’t expect im- mediate replies to emails – aconstantsenseof urgency contributes to employee burnout. Sending emails outside of working hours (especially late at night and on weekends) should be avoided, or staff shouldn’t be expected (much less re- quired) to answer after- hours messages immedi- ately. Don’t force employees to be “on” all the time: Zoom fatigue is sky high, and em- ployeesmayhavetomanage quietspacesothatallhouse- hold members can partici- pateintheirrespectivework calls and video meetings. Womenusuallygettheshort end of the stick, with one author dubbing them “re- luctantnomads”inthe“bat- tle for space.” For example, anemployeemightfindher- self perched on the edge of the bathtub, precariously balancing a computer on her knees, so that her part- ner and children can con- ducttheirbusinessorschool work from the living room, bedroom, and kitchen. And women tend to face unfair criticism and pressure over their appearance on Zoom. Managers should ask whetheranymeetingscould beeliminated, shortened,or conducted without video. Vic- tory over Pakistan Army in Eastern Theatre was a marvel of military strategy, executed with perfection by troops on the ground. It is an excellent exam- pleof jointmanshipamongstall three services. It’s prudent to highlight with great pride that the Liberation of Bangla Desh andFalklandsWararetwoshin- ing examples of brilliant mili- tary campaigns, post-WWII and they are taught in Military His- tory, the world over. Soldiering has been a noble profession for ages. The royal families joined Army since the profession of arms was always associated with pride, dignity, and the highest form of nation- alism since times immemorial. Many of us left well paying cor- poratejobstojoindefenceforces since it was considered as a proud privilege to don the com- bat uniform. Indian ancient his- tory, including the epics of Ramayana and Mahabharat, haveingrainedfightingtenetsin our people where the profession of armsisconsideredatradition and an ultimate goal in a per- son’s life. Indian armed forces have proved their mettle every time they have faced the enemy. CHANAKYA TEACHINGS The role of a soldier in nation- building and duty of king to- wards the welfare of soldiers has been clearly defined by great Indian strategic thinker Chanakya - “While the Magad- hacitizenryendeavourstomake the State prosper and flourish, theMauryansoldierguarantees that the State continues to exist! ……..” It’s so true even today. RECENT DOWNGRADINGS The teachings of Chanakya have been forgotten by the pre- sent leadership. It’s very unfor- tunate that the expenditure on defence forces is not seen as in- surance by having a force of deterrencebutseenthroughthe prism of an auditor. As we say- War over, the soldier is soon for- gotten. The auditor forgets the bodies and devastated families andstartscountingthepennies. In the recent past, we have seen high rhetoric on nationalism, soldiers sacrifices and pride as a political narrative but the ero- sion of pride, respect, dignity, pay, pension, perks, and privi- leges of defence forces, with re- sultant damage to the martial streak in our country. This indi- cates apathy of Govt towards defence forces. The same mis- take was done by Govt prior to 1962 debacle. A few examples of the same are highlighted here- z Gradual reduction in defence budget as percentage of GDP. z Taxing disability pensions and statements by senior offic- ers to say that disability is all manipulated. z Not giving NFU status while the same is being given to civilians and CAPF. z Granting truncated OROP to ESM and the same being given to even bank employees. z Gradually reducing avenues of post retirement settlement through Directorate General of Resettlement. z Imposing restrictions on CSD Canteen purchases on pretext of misuse, painting all ESM and as profiteers. z Starving ECHS of funds, thereby making the scheme almost redundant. z The Siachin and J&K allowanc- es for the military are far below that of CAPF and police. z Throwing open the cantts to civilians, thereby compromis- ing the security and privacy of soldiers. z Proposal to reduce pensions on the pretext of ballooning defence pension bills. Detailed analysis indicates the contrary. z Proposal to Close down ceremonials like Army Day Pa- rade, Vijay Diwas, Kargil Vijay, Battle Honour Days and Rais- ing Day celebrations. These are celebrated the world over. z Proposal to close down or curtail Officer’s Messes and Clubs on the name of austerity measures. PINCHING THE PENSION Thestateisneverabletopaythe soldier adequately who stands as a sentinel to the nation’s growth and prosperity. He guards the frontiers facing all hardshipsandpreparedtomake the supreme sacrifice, if the need arises, to defend the moth- erland. The citizens sleeping peacefully in air-conditioned houses living in metro comforts will never be able to fathom the hardships involved in the pro- fession of arms. The soldier is paid less compared to corporate world but paid higher the pen- sion which is in-fact a different salaryitself.Also,adequatepen- sion is paid after retirement to ensurethattheonewhogavehis youth for guarding the country should be able to live a decent life in the sunset years and his prideisnotcompromiseddueto financial constraints. CONCLUSION Vijay Diwas is a symbol of Pride for the Indian Armed Forces. Such celebrations, all across the globe reminds the citizens about the valour and sacrifices of our soldiers. The nation also pays tribute to the bravehearts who did not come back home after the war. The Armed Forces have created a niche for itself, in the society projecting itself as a role model in the crumbling edifice of pre- sent social structure. Even the Ex-service-men are highly re- spected in the society, since they stand out due to their dis- ciplined life, nationalistic atti- tude, and helping nature which they carry home from Army life, even after retirement. If India aspires to become a su- perpower in 21st century, it should take pride in achieve- ments of it’s Defence Forces and respect its soldiers includ- ing veterans. After becoming the chief minister she remained calm for some time but returned to her old ways not long after as she never eased pressure on the Central government of the day. Mamata’s militant style of politics first grabbed headlines when on January 7, 1993, she bargedintotheWriters’Buildingsandsatonadhar- na outside the chamber of Chief Minister Jyoti Basu. She was then a leader of the Youth Congress. Before the parliamentary elections of 2019, her government kept up her offensive against the BJP- led coalition government at the Centre over the Saradha chit fund scam. When the CBI team land- ed in Kolkata to interrogate Police Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, it was detained by the local police. Mamata began an indefinite dharna at Esplanade against the CBI’s move in the absence of a “gen- eral consent” to the investigative agency to probe cases in the state without permission. In 2013 she was ordered by the Supreme Court to abide by the State Election Commissioner’s (SEC) order for five-phase panchayat elections in the state. Mamata had challenged the SEC’s order to deploy additional central forces for the elections. It is almost an action replay as political tem- peratures rise once again with the BJP attacking the TMC over law and order. The BJP has urged the Election Commissioner to deploy additional central forces and impose the model code of con- duct in the state six months ahead of elections. W

JPC/010/2019-21 Vikas Sharma Jaipur: With a robust Covid management and effective tackling of healthcare needs, the medical and health de- partment led by Health Minister Raghu Shar- ma has positioned Ra- jasthan ahead of other states in the country, that too in a time of cri- sis caused by Covid-19. The state has made a distinct identity in the country and in the world in covid manage- ment with bringing death rate as low as 0.86 percent, whereas, more than 91 percent corona patients have recovered due to better medical care and facilities. While the covid man- agement of the state was lauded nationally, the state government took many decisions to strengthen the medical and health sector which has been the key prior- ity area for the Ashok Gehlot government ever since it came to power in December 2018. Talking about the performance of his de- partment, the Health Minister Raghu Shar- ma said most of the promises, related to medical and health, made in the election manifesto were fulfilled in the two years. He said that ‘Nirogi Rajasthan’ campaign was launched in the state last year, with a vi- sion to help every citi- zen in staying healthy and the campaign proved its significance in fight against the co- rona pandemic. Rajasthan’s treat- ment protocol was ac- knowledged at the world level. Plasma therapy was also start- ed and lives of many patients who were in critical condition were saved. He said that there was no shortage of manpower and 735 doc- tors were given appoint- ment in the first phase. In the second phase, the recruitment process of 2,000 doctors is almost complete and posting will be given to all suc- cessful physicians on 17 December. Nearly 26.65 lakh pa- tients were provided general medical servic- es through mobile OPD vans in curfew areas. 89 percent children were fully vaccinated in the year 2019-20. The minister in- formed that work on starting medical tour- ism centers under PPP mode was also started at 20 places. During the last two years, 200 new sub cen- tres, 112 new PHCs, 52 new CHCs, one satellite and one sub district hospital, two new dis- trict hospitals were started. Now, instead of 6,310 posts for CHOs, a total of 7,810 posts will be filled on contract basis. In view of difficulty in conducting repeated examinations due the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of posts has been increased. This will ensure services in health centres in far- flung areas of the state and provide more em- ployment opportunities in the health sector to the local youth, Gehlot said in a statement. Under the Ayushman Bharat Abhiyan, all health institutions up to the sub-health centre level in Rajasthan are to be made functional as ‘’Health and Wellness Centres’’ by 2022. For this, the adver- tisement for the recruit- ment of 6,310 posts was issued on August 31 and a written examination was also conducted. The contract workers will be paid honorari- um and incentives un- der the provisions of Project Implementation Plan (PIP) of the NHM. In the meanwhile, all the ministers of Ra- jasthan government will be visiting districts for two days on comple- tion of two years of Ashok Gehlot -led Con- gress government of Rajasthan. A meeting was held by Chief Secretary Niranjan Arya on the issue of land transfer, but the decision was left to UDH Minister Shanti Dhariwal and Assem- bly Speaker CP Joshi.
