. In

GITB to be held from April 23-25
s the IPL juggernaut rages on
with the tournament close to
completing one month, the re-
cent week saw the foreign play-
ers rule the roost creating major
impact for their franchises.
Ever since Brendon McCullum
hit the first IPL century in the
first match itself in 2008, many
overseas players like Chris Gay-
le and AB de Villiers have cre-
ated their own fanfare and
thrilled cricket lovers with scin-
tillating displays of their talent.
IPL may be a cash cow for many
foreign players but their pres-
ence has also been a catalyst for
Indian youngsters as they learn
from them and quicken their
journey to the national team.
The first name that comes to
mind for IPL 2023 is Har-
ry Brooks who hit this
season’s first
century for
Sunrisers Hy-
derabad. His
first few
m a t c h e s
were total failures as he was un-
able to live up to the hype that
was created after the IPL auc-
tion where he was bought by
Hyderabad for Rs 13.25 crore.
But the England batsman si-
lenced his critics by hitting an
unbeaten century of just 55
balls against Kolkata Knight
Riders in a winning cause.
The Orange Cap for leading
run scorers is currently with the
South African
batsman, Faf
du Plessis,
with 343 runs. He
is also the current
RoyalChallengersBan-
galore captain and has
beeninfineform.Inthelast
4gamesthathehasbatted,Faf
has scored 3 half centuries and
isoneof thereasonsalongwith
Kohli’s batting that RCB finds
itself with 3 wins out of 6
games. He is 38 years old but
has proven that old is gold
with his form and fitness.
Faf’s presence in a squad
full of youngsters should be
an opportunity for them to
soak his experience and
learn the tricks of the trade
alongside him.
Then there is the curi-
ous case of David Warn-
er, who hasn’t been
in the best of form
but still manages to
be at number 2 in the top run
getters table. His natural flair
has been missing in Delhi’s poor
campaign this year, where the
team has lost 5 out of 6 matches
and yet to gain any sort of mo-
mentum. The absence of
Rishabh Pant and misfiring
Mitchell Marsh has meant that
Warner has had to take addi-
tional responsibility to stabilize
the innings in the middle. But it
does serve as a great example to
many young batting talents that
flexibility is the key to longevity
in international cricket.
Beyond batting brilliance,
someoverseasplayershavecome
up with phenomenal bowling
performances in IPL 2023.
Among pacers, England’s Mark
Wood is bowling fiery spells in
every match for Lucknow Super
Giants. Starting their campaign
at home. In his debut for the fran-
chise, Wood snared the scalps of
Prithvi Shaw and Mitchell
Marshonback-to-backdeliveries
in his very first over. After
clinching both wickets, he got
more aggressive and fetched a
fifer. Since then, he hasn’t looked
back and with 11 wickets in 4
matches, he currently ranks sec-
ond in the race for Purple Cap.
The other pacer who has im-
pressed is veteran Kiwi, Trent
Boult, who puts up a swing bowl-
ing masterclass in almost every
game he plays for Rajasthan. He
too grabbed two wickets in his
first over against Delhi and end-
ed with superb figures of 4-1-29-3.
The left-arm pacer provides cru-
cial breakthroughs at the start,
has been a wily threat for all bat-
ters and lends a special potency
to the Royals attack this season.
Among the spinners, it is
Rashid Khan who has provided
the most amazing spells. His best
performance was against Kolka-
ta Knight Riders where he man-
aged to get a hat-trick. In his first
three games, he bagged 8 wickets
and though he has slowed down
a bit in the last couple of games,
the right-arm leggie is at the 3rd
spot in the Purple Cap race with
11 wickets in 5 games so far. His
wrist spinning abilities in the
IPL season have once again un-
derlined why Rashid is one of
the most feared and featured
bowlers in world cricket!
More than the learning that
Indian domestic players find
from rubbing shoulders with the
overseas stars, it’s the bonhomie
that gets created between crick-
eters from all over the world
which has been the biggest gain
for the game. It’s a win- win for
both the fans and the players as
it results in evolution of cricket-
ing skills with each passing year
through the IPL experience!

Ajmer:Chief Minister
Ashok Gehlot attended
the second and last day
of the Mega Job Fair be-
ing organised by the
Skill, Planning and En-
trepreneurship Depart-
ment at Chandravardai
Stadium in Ajmer on
Friday. During this, he
also handed over ap-
pointment letters to the
youth. Gehlot honoured
the company represent-
atives who gave jobs as
cheques of Rs 50,000
were also given to two
women as assistance.
CM Gehlot while ad-
dressing the pro-
gramme said that he
has come only for the
job fair. “From this you
can guess how impor-
tant the job fair is. The
challenges today are in-
flation and unemploy-
ment. Earlier China had
the largest population,
now according to the
figures coming in, India
has become the most
populous country. The
population has in-
creased, but it is very
important to get em-
ployment and increase
investment. More than 3
lakh jobs are being cre-
ated and one and a half
lakh have been em-
ployed,” he said.
Gehlot said that every
government has a limit
to give government jobs.
“There is a desire to cre-
ate such an atmosphere
in Rajasthan that in-
vestment will increase
here so that industry
will be set up. If Ra-
jasthan moves ahead in
every field, it will be
number one. Thinking
this, we are working. Be
it a village or a city in
Raj, there is no dearth
of talent here. Ra-
jasthan has made pro-
gress in the field of edu-
cation. The Rajasthan
government is spending
Rs 22,000 crore annually
on health,” he said.
The government has
announced that it will
give a loan of Rs 50,000
to five lakh youth, but
the bankers are not co-
operating. “Rajasthan
is emerging Rajasthan.
Records have been set
in many fields. Most of
the work has started
happening online.
Where there is peace
and harmony, only they
move forward. Be it
family, society, village,
state and country. The
gap between rich and
poor is increasing in
the country
. This should
not happen. We are go-
ing to set up inflation
relief camps and do so-
cial work in these
camps. 100 camps will
be organised and big
companies will also
come. Congratulations
to those who have got
jobs,” the CM said.

Jaipur: The 2004 batch
IAS, Ravi Kumar Sur-
pur took the charge of
Commissioner, Com-
mercial Taxes in April
2022 at ‘Kar Bhawan’.
At that time, the finan-
cial year had just start-

completion of finan-
cial year, Surpur has
completed one year on
the post.
In this one year, Sur-
pur has created a re-
cord as he has collected
a whopping Rs 33,000
crore in GST. This is a
twenty three percent
growth over previous
year (2021-22) and
therefore, it is a huge
achievement of the de-
partment. Prior to Cov-
id-19, the GST collec-
tion stood at Rs 21,000
crore and during the
covid- 19 year, this fell
down to Rs 20,000 crore.
Ravi Kumar Surpur
has achieved this feat
under the direction

Surpur is a silent per-

  • 4. s the IPL juggernaut rages on with the tournament close to completing one month, the re- cent week saw the foreign play- ers rule the roost creating major impact for their franchises. Ever since Brendon McCullum hit the first IPL century in the first match itself in 2008, many overseas players like Chris Gay- le and AB de Villiers have cre- ated their own fanfare and thrilled cricket lovers with scin- tillating displays of their talent. IPL may be a cash cow for many foreign players but their pres- ence has also been a catalyst for Indian youngsters as they learn from them and quicken their journey to the national team. The first name that comes to mind for IPL 2023 is Har- ry Brooks who hit this season’s first century for Sunrisers Hy- derabad. His first few m a t c h e s were total failures as he was un- able to live up to the hype that was created after the IPL auc- tion where he was bought by Hyderabad for Rs 13.25 crore. But the England batsman si- lenced his critics by hitting an unbeaten century of just 55 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders in a winning cause. The Orange Cap for leading run scorers is currently with the South African batsman, Faf du Plessis, with 343 runs. He is also the current RoyalChallengersBan- galore captain and has beeninfineform.Inthelast 4gamesthathehasbatted,Faf has scored 3 half centuries and isoneof thereasonsalongwith Kohli’s batting that RCB finds itself with 3 wins out of 6 games. He is 38 years old but has proven that old is gold with his form and fitness. Faf’s presence in a squad full of youngsters should be an opportunity for them to soak his experience and learn the tricks of the trade alongside him. Then there is the curi- ous case of David Warn- er, who hasn’t been in the best of form but still manages to be at number 2 in the top run getters table. His natural flair has been missing in Delhi’s poor campaign this year, where the team has lost 5 out of 6 matches and yet to gain any sort of mo- mentum. The absence of Rishabh Pant and misfiring Mitchell Marsh has meant that Warner has had to take addi- tional responsibility to stabilize the innings in the middle. But it does serve as a great example to many young batting talents that flexibility is the key to longevity in international cricket. Beyond batting brilliance, someoverseasplayershavecome up with phenomenal bowling performances in IPL 2023. Among pacers, England’s Mark Wood is bowling fiery spells in every match for Lucknow Super Giants. Starting their campaign at home. In his debut for the fran- chise, Wood snared the scalps of Prithvi Shaw and Mitchell Marshonback-to-backdeliveries in his very first over. After clinching both wickets, he got more aggressive and fetched a fifer. Since then, he hasn’t looked back and with 11 wickets in 4 matches, he currently ranks sec- ond in the race for Purple Cap. The other pacer who has im- pressed is veteran Kiwi, Trent Boult, who puts up a swing bowl- ing masterclass in almost every game he plays for Rajasthan. He too grabbed two wickets in his first over against Delhi and end- ed with superb figures of 4-1-29-3. The left-arm pacer provides cru- cial breakthroughs at the start, has been a wily threat for all bat- ters and lends a special potency to the Royals attack this season. Among the spinners, it is Rashid Khan who has provided the most amazing spells. His best performance was against Kolka- ta Knight Riders where he man- aged to get a hat-trick. In his first three games, he bagged 8 wickets and though he has slowed down a bit in the last couple of games, the right-arm leggie is at the 3rd spot in the Purple Cap race with 11 wickets in 5 games so far. His wrist spinning abilities in the IPL season have once again un- derlined why Rashid is one of the most feared and featured bowlers in world cricket! More than the learning that Indian domestic players find from rubbing shoulders with the overseas stars, it’s the bonhomie that gets created between crick- eters from all over the world which has been the biggest gain for the game. It’s a win- win for both the fans and the players as it results in evolution of cricket- ing skills with each passing year through the IPL experience! THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BY THE AUTHOR ARE PERSONAL Greetings and best wishes to all civil servants and their families on the Civil Services Day. They have been instrumental in furthering India’s progress prosperity and also helping the citizens. This day is an occasion for them to rededicate themselves in service to the nation. If Ra- jasthan moves ahead in every field, it will be number one. Thinking this, we are working. Be it a village or a city in Raj, there is no dearth of talent here. Ra- jasthan has made pro- gress in the field of edu- cation. The Rajasthan government is spending Rs 22,000 crore annually on health,” he said. The government has announced that it will give a loan of Rs 50,000 to five lakh youth, but the bankers are not co- operating. “Rajasthan is emerging Rajasthan. Records have been set in many fields. Most of the work has started happening online. Where there is peace and harmony, only they move forward. Be it family, society, village, state and country. The gap between rich and poor is increasing in the country . This should not happen.
