New Delhi (PTI):
Faced by a rebellion in
its ranks, senior Shiv
Sena leader Sanjay
Raut on Tuesday said
the party was ready
for a fight over the
symbol and control of
the organization.
Interacting with the
media in the national
capital, Raut also
claimed that the
Bharatiya Janata Party
(BJP) was trying to
break Maharashtra
into three pieces. He
also claimed that mak-
ing a dent in the Shiv
Sena ranks was part of
the saffron party’s con-
spiracy
.
Hitting out at Maha-

Eknath Shinde, Raut
said, “We are ready for
any fight, be it for the
symbol or the party or-
ganization. A few MPs
and MLAs may be leav-

MPs alone do not make

He reminded the

Raut also took a
swipe at Shinde saying
he had to make visits to

Woman accuses MP Shewale of rape
Mumbai (PTI): A
33-year-old Dubai-
based woman has
sought the registra-
tion of a First Infor-
mation Report (FIR)
against Shiv Sena MP
Rahul Shewale alleg-
ing he had raped her
under the pretext of
marriage. She even
tweeted her com-

Dismissing the alle-
gations against her hus-

Kamini termed them a
“deliberate conspiracy”
to tarnish the image of
the Mumbai South Cen-
tral MP, who has been
active on the social and
political circuit for
more than 25 years.
In her complaint, the
woman who runs a tex-
tile business has alleged
that Mumbai police had
not registered the FIR,
despite recording her
statement in the past.
She has alleged that
Shewale has been “emo-
tionally and mentally
exploiting her” and rap-
ing her since 2020, said
a Mumbai police official
on Tuesday
.
The woman alleged
Shewale had estab-
lished physical rela-
tions with her saying
his relations with his
wife are strained. He
told her that the two will
get divorced soon after
which he will marry
her, as per the com-
plaint.
“I came to know that

I request the chief min-
ister to take action
against Shewale and

the woman on the
charges of extortion,

A group of Shiv Sena

a Lok Sabha member.
As speculation about
14 Shiv Sena Lok Sabha

party MPs gathered at
the residence of Sanjay

WHEN WILL COPS
LEARN FROM
STRONG WORDS
OF SC JUDGES
f the Supreme Court
will not let go of a
chance to castigate
the police for their
high-handedness, the
cops too won’t mend their ways.
Every time there’s a stricture
against the police one hopes that
they will not go out of their way
to harass an individual, but that
does not happen. Take the case of
Mohammed Zubair, the editor of
Alt News, who is under arrest for
alleged blasphemous tweets.
Zubair has six FIRs against him
at Hathras, Lakhimpur Kheri,
Sitapur, Ghaziabad and Muzaffa-
rnagar. There was another case
lodged against him in Delhi
where an Additional Sessions
Judge granted him bail saying
that dissent is the essence of de-
mocracy
. He was also granted in-
terim bail by the Supreme Court
in the case filed by Sitapur police.
While seeking protection for
Zubair from arrests Vrinda
Grover told the court that it is a
“vicious cycle” in which when
Zubair gets bail in one FIR, he
gets arrested in the other.

happened at a time when the

figure out how to make UP a

. On
Monday, the CM asked offi-
cials to keep a target of Rs 10
lakh crore investments. The
state, he said, had emerged as
a dream destination.
It may surely have become
a dream destination for some.
What may shatter his dream,
however, is the growing reli-
gious animosity between
groups and the police admin-
istration’s blatantly soft ap-
proach towards one set of
people. Some groups are bent
on disrupting communal
harmony when alleged Mus-

ter the mall was inaugurated.
A Hindu group then swung
into action and reached the
place to recite their religious
prayer. To cap it all, a sadhu
descended on the place to
perform shuddhikaran. The

have been caught napping by
the namazis but other at-

T
PREZ POLLS AGAIN EXPOSE
‘MYTH’ CALLED OPPN UNITY
n July 18, the BJP and espe-
cially the astute politician
that PM Narendra Modi is…
once again showed his politi-
cal prowess and the Opposi-
tion cut an extremely sorry
figure as far as the presiden-
tialelectionswereconcerned.
To start with, the way the
candidates’ names, especially
in the Opposition camp was
announced and the thereby
rejection from the candidates
themselves only reduced the
stature of the Opposition.
The presidential race has
clearly exposed the “myth”
called Opposition unity and
also displayed the clueless lot
of parties and their divided
and half-hearted attempts to
take on the Saffron might.
By just naming Draupadi
Murmu, PM Modi gave it a
check and mate status and the
BJD which (understandably)
stayed away from the Opposi-
tion meeting in this regard
(otherthanAAPandTRS)was
thefirstpartytofallinlineow-
ingtothefactthatMurmuwas
the daughter of Odisha!
HOWEVER, ALL THAT
WAS THE TRAILER…
And what happened on the
voting day was the full fea-
ture film which exposed the
fragile and brittle unity of
the Opposition camp (if
there’s anything left in this
regard!). Yashwant Sinha, the
Opposition’s pick for Presi-
dent, looked already defeated.
Though his name was final-
ly announced by the Trina-
mool supremo after the rejec-
tionsfromGopalKrishnaGan-
dhiandFarooqAbdullah…yet
the TMC made no real-time
efforts to campaign solidly for
Sinha.Instead,daysbeforethe
presidential polls, Mamata
herself said, “Draupadi Mur-
mu, who represents the tribal
community and is a woman,
would have been a preferred
choice as a consensus candi-
date, had BJP informed about
her name as presidential can-
didate well ahead.
This itself may have been
sodishearteningforYashwant
Sinha and only he must have
understoodhowitfeltthereaf-
ter to continue in the race.
Also, it may be recalled
that the Congress, which also
seconded Sinha, made almost
cipher efforts to solicit sup-
port for Sinha and Rahul
Gandhi was away on a trip
abroad (his fifth foreign trip
this year) and returned on
the voting day
.
By naming Murmu, the
BJP made its political goal
clear - to woo and win back al-
lies like the Akali Dal, which
supported presidential and
the vice-presidential candi-
dates Murmu and Dhankhar.
BIHAR
Even Bihar Chief Minister
Nitish Kumar, who these days
hardlyagreeswiththeBJPon
anyissues,alsofellinlineand
followed the Saffron party’s
strictures regarding the pres-
idential polls. If all these was
achieved before the battle was
won, guess what happened on
the day the war was fought? A
day later on Tuesday while
this article was being written,
news reports trickling in
from various parts of the
country weren’t very bright
for the Opposition camp.
MAHARASHTRA

istCongressParty(NCP)came

GUJARAT
Gujarat NCP president Jay-
ant Patel ‘Bosky’ immediate-
ly cracked down and sought
an explanation from Jadeja
for his act but it may be noted
here that the party did not is-
sue a whip, although its leg-
islators were instructed ver-
bally to vote for Sinha.
JHARKHAND
Another NCP MLA, Kamlesh
Singh (from Jharkhand), cast
hisballotinfavourof Murmu.
Haryana Congress MLA Kul-
deepBishnoi,whocross-voted
in last month’s Rajya Sabha
polls, said he voted according
to his conscience. Indicating
that he cast his ballot in fa-
vourof Murmu,Bishnoisaid,

Singh… Shivpal Yadav said,
“Hardcore SP leaders, who fol-
low “Netaji’s” principles, will

ASSAM
In Assam, AIUDF legislator
Karimuddin Barbhuiya al-
leged that at least 20 Con-
gress MLAs voted for Mur-
mu. A Congress MLA from
Odisha, Mohammad Mo-
quim, voted for Murmu, as
the NDA presidential nomi-
nee is a ‘daughter’ of (his)
state and so he went by his
“conscience” call.
THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BY
THE AUTHOR ARE PERSONAL
O
However, little after this
article is published and
read… the truth… that is
the verdict will be out. With
the Lok Sabha elections
slated in 2024, the BJP
showed clarity in its
thought… and once again
the depleted, disoriented
and unplanned Opposition
was found struggling to get
its act together!
By just naming Draupadi
Murmu, PM Modi gave it
a check and mate status
and the BJD which
(understandably) stayed away
from the Opposition meeting
in this regard (other than AAP
and TRS) was the first party
to fall in line owing to the fact
that Murmu was the daughter
of Odisha! Yashwant
Sinha, the Opposition’s
pick for President, looked
already defeated

up in arms to attack the
government on the is-
sues of price rise, GST
hike, Agnipath scheme
and even forced ad-
journments in both the
Houses of the Parlia-

As soon as Rajya Sab-

OPPN ON AGNIPATH
New Delhi (ANI): PM
Narendra Modi on Tues-
day remembered Mangal
Pandey on his birth
anniversary and said that
the freedom fighter had
ignited the spark of pat-
riotism at a very critical
period in India’s history.
“The great Mangal Pandey
is synonymous with cour-
age and determination. He
ignited the spark of pat-
riotism at a very critical
period of our history and
inspired countless people.
Remembering him on his
birth anniversary. Had
paid tributes to his statue
in Meerut earlier this
year,” PM Modi said in
a tweet. Earlier this year,
Prime Minister paid floral
tribute to the statue of
Mangal Pandey in Uttar
Pradesh’s Meerut. Vice
President M Venkaiah
Naidu also paid tribute to
Mangal Pandey.
RJD leader Tejashwi
Yadav on Tuesday
slammed the BJP and
RSS for having caste
and religion section
under the documents
required during the re-
cruitment of Agniveers.
He cited a popular
Hindi idiom where it
highlights that never
ask the caste of a sage
or a monk. Taking to a
micro-blogging site Ya-
dav slammed the RSS
and BJP citing that the
‘Agniveers will be sort-
ed out or filtered out
on the basis of caste.’
“Don’t ask the caste of
the monk. But ask the
caste of the soldier.
The BJP government of
the Sangh runs away
from caste census but
asks for caste from
Agniveer brothers who
gave their lives for the
service of the country,”
he said.
Defence Minister Ra-
jnath Singh on Tuesday
outrightly rejected the
Opposition’s allegations
of caste certificates
being asked from the
Agnipath aspirants and
said that the practice
has been in existence
“since pre-independ-
ence era” adding that
no change has been
made in the registra-
tion criteria. “It’s just
a rumour. (The) earlier
system, existing since
the pre-independence
era, is going on. No
change has been made.
(The) old system is be-
ing continued,” Singh
told reporters as he
rejected the allega-
tions. The Opposition
criticised the govern-
ment alleging that caste
and religion certificates
are being sought for the
Agnipath recruitment
scheme. Union Infor-
mation and Broadcast-
ing Minister Anurag
Thakur also slammed
allegations by AAP and
the Opposition.

All India Trinamool

the details and the
number of proposals
received by the Minis-
try of Home Affairs for
getting approval to
change the cities name
across the country, and
whether the Govern-

the guidelines for
changing the names of
the heritage places.
Rai replied that MHA
has no such guidelines
for the change of
names of heritage
places. In the year
2022, Punjab city “Shri

BJP eyeing Raj Thackeray for a ‘bigger’ role?

New Delhi: The
Bharatiya Janata Par-

Maharashtra where
he will be used in
Maharashtra the
way Trinamool

gal or O Panneersel-
vam in Tamil Nadu.
There is a proposal to
include the rebel lead-
ers of Shiv Sena in Raj
Thackeray’s party Ma-
harashtra Navnirman
Sena (MNS). With this
Shiv Sena will be left
with Uddhav Thacker-
ay and Eknath Shinde
faction will also get one
party, one Thackeray.
The second proposal is
to eliminate Shiv Sena
through Shinde and in-
stall Raj Thackeray in
its place which will be
extremely easy. If the
matter of Eknath Shin-
de and Uddhav Thack-
eray reaches the Elec-
tion Commission, the
commission will con-
fiscate the party’s name
and symbol. After that
most of Uddhav’s re-
maining leaders will
also go with Shinde or
BJP. At the same time
Raj Thackeray will be
established with the
help of BJP. For this
there is talk of making
his son a minister in
the state government.
Raj Thackeray’s son
Amit Thackeray is very
active and was current-
ly on a tour of Konkan.
He is being considered
as the ‘kaat’ of Aaditya
Thackeray. He is not
even MLA or MLC
right now. Still, if he
becomes a minister, it
will be easy for Raj
Thackeray to unite his
supporters.
ELECTION COMMISSION CAN CONFISCATE
PARTY’S NAME AND SYMBOL
If the matter of Eknath Shinde and Ud-
dhav Thackeray reaches the Election
Commission, the commission will con-
fiscate the party’s name and symbol.
After that most of Uddhav’s remaining
leaders will also go with Shinde or BJP.
At the same time Raj Thackeray will be
established with the help of BJP. For
this there is talk of making his son a
minister in the state government. Raj

First India Bureau
Pune: At least seven

ing.
No one was injured in
the incident which took
place at a e-bike shop
located near the Gan-

The bikes were
plugged in for charging
and prima facie a short
circuit might have oc-
curred due to over-

the fire. However, the
exact cause of the blaze
will be known after a

said.
“We received a call at

CBI dir Jaiswal claims HC plea
filed out of ‘personal vendetta’
First India Bureau
Mumbai: Central Bu-
reau of Investigation
(CBI) director Subodh
Jaiswal has urged the
Bombay High Court
to dismiss a former
police officer’s peti-
tion challenging his
appointment as the
head of the central
agency
, citing that the
plea was filed out of a
“personal grudge”.
In an affidavit filed
before the high court
earlier this month,
Jaiswal has claimed
that the plea filed by Ra-
jendra Trivedi, a for-
mer assistant commis-
sioner (ACP) of the Ma-
harashtra police, was
malafide and a result of
a “personal grudge”.
“No case has been
made out by the peti-
tioner to invoke the ex-
traordinary jurisdic-
tion of the high court,”
Jaiswal’s affidavit read.
“The petitioner has
filed the present peti-
tion with a personal
grudge against the an-
swering respondent
and only out of sheer
vendetta and venge-
ance,” it said.
The CBI director filed
his affidavit in response
to a previous direction
by the high court while
hearing Trivedi’s plea.
In his plea filed
through advocate SB
Talekar, Trivedi has
sought that Jaiswal’s
appointment as the di-
rector of the CBI be
quashed.
Jaiswal’s appoint-
ment was in contraven-
tion of the Delhi Police
Establishment Act, the
plea stated, seeking that
the high court call for
the records and pro-
ceedings of the three-
member committee that
had approved Jaiswal’s
candidature.
The petitioner also
said that the CBI direc-
tor must necessarily be
the senior most IPS of-
ficer with impeccable
and unbreachable cred-
ibility and an experi-
ence in investigating
anti-corruption cases.
Jaiswal, during his
tenure, had never been
attached to any anti-
corruption wing and
hence, did not possess
the requisite experi-
ence required under the
Act, Trivedi claimed in
the plea.
The petition also stat-
ed that a special investi-
gation team (SIT) head-
ed by Jaiswal, who was
then a deputy inspector
general, was set up in
2002 to investigate a
fake and counterfeit
stamps case, in refer-
ence to the Telgi case.
Strictures were
passed against Jaiswal
by the Supreme Court
in the case and it was
transferred to the CBI.
The Apex Court’s obser-
vations had not been
withdrawn or expunged
till date, it said.
URGES COURT TO DISMISS PETITION IN AN AFFIDAVIT FILED IN RESPONSE TO A
PREVIOUS DIRECTION BY IT WHILE HEARING EX-ACP RAJENDRA TRIVEDI’S PLEA
No case has been made out by the petitioner to invoke the extraordi-
nary jurisdiction of the high court. The petitioner has filed the pre-
sent petition with a personal grudge against the answering re-
spondent and only out of sheer vendetta and vengeance.

‘Overhang of unsold housing units
lowest since the pandemic hit markets’
Satish Nandgaonkar
Mumbai: The months’
inventory overhang
of housing units — or
the estimated period
to sell unsold inven-
tory in eight Tier I cit-
ies—has dropped to
36 months in the first
six months of 2022. It
is for the first time
since COVID-19 pan-
demic hit the country
that the overhang pe-
riod has lowered.
It hit an all-time high
of 64 months during the
first half of 2020, dur-
ing the COVID-19 lock-
down in March 2020,
according to a Liases
Foras Q1 report re-
leased on Tuesday
.
The unsold inventory
of housing units in-
creased by 2% from
901,949 units in January
to March quarter of FY
2021-22 to 924,408 units
in April to June quarter
of FY 2022-23 in Tier I
cities.
The monthly over-
hang—which averaged
around 43 months in
pre-pandemic year of
2019—shot up to 64
months in the first half
of 2020. It fell to 58
months in the second
half of 2020, when the
sector tried to recover
with the help of incen-
tives by the Centre. Pre-
mium and stamp duty
cuts announced by
states like Maharashtra
also helped the sector.
This led to the over-
hang coming down to 43
months in the first half
of 2021, and decreasing
further to 39 months in
the second half.
“Months’ inventory
has attained its lowest
value since 2014, at 36
months in H1 2022,”
said Pankaj Kapoor,
Managing Director, Li-
ases Foras, an inde-
pendent, non- broking

firm.

MUMBAI, WEDNESDAY,
JULY 20, 2022
UNIQUELY
ashion is most
often thought of
as a global in-
dustry that is
invested in an-
ticipating what
we wear and
how we wish to ap-
pear to others. It
refers to a predomi-
nant mode of ex-
pression, whether
it be custom, style
of dress, speech, or
other. Inherent in
the term is the idea
that the mode will
change more quickly
than the culture as a
whole. But for some
fashion is not just a
style of dress but
more specifically it
is an ‘eye of person-
ality, display of indi-
viduality’ a person’s
fashion gives the world
around them an idea of
who they are. It describes
who we really are. Fash-
ions in clothing have
been used throughout
history to allow the wear-
ers to express emotion or
solidarity with other peo-
ple. It has been used as an
indicator of social class
or social status, or as a
gauge of how attuned
they are to the popular
trends of the time.
According to the re-
searcher, Mary Lynn
Damhorst says “A dress
is a systematic means of
transmission of informa-
tion about the wearer.”
It is frequently used in a
positive sense, as a syno-
nym for glamour and
style. In this sense, fash-
ionsareaformof commu-
nal art, through which a
culture examines its no-
tions of beauty and good-
ness. “Fashion” can also
be used in a negative
sense, as a synonym for
fads,trends,andmaterial-
ism. It is a cultural and
social phenomenon, driv-
en by the desire for the
new.
Youwillassociatefeelings
with your clothing each
time you dress, when you
glance in the mirror, or
when you observe others’
reactions. Your feelings
on fashion might be both
favourable and negative.
To better organise your
clothing toward a joyful
style, it is crucial to un-
derstand why and how
you feel. The sensations
and emotions related to
fashion changes with
time. One may evolve as a
person and that can be
seen through his style
and clothes he wears. The
illusion of flawless beau-
ty, for instance, is the
foundation of fashion.
But if you peek behind
the scenes, you’ll discov-
er that the industry is
considerably bigger than
this. Your senses’ emo-
tional cords have been
mastered by it, and it has
woven them into society’s
fabric. Fashion is more
than just a way to express
your identity or original-
ity via your style. Addi-
tionally
, fashion is more
than just a trend in cloth-
ing. In actuality
, it is in
charge of influencing so-
cial interactions and
moods. Science has also
provided us with suffi-
cient evidence to support
the notion that clothing
can affect how we feel.
Emotion and fashion go
hand in hand.

SPIRITUAL SPEAK Work for work’s sake, not for yourself. Act but do not be attached to your actions. Be in the world, but not of it. —Bhagavad Gita IN-DEPTH WHEN WILL COPS LEARN FROM STRONG WORDS OF SC JUDGES f the Supreme Court will not let go of a chance to castigate the police for their high-handedness, the cops too won’t mend their ways. Every time there’s a stricture against the police one hopes that they will not go out of their way to harass an individual, but that does not happen. Take the case of Mohammed Zubair, the editor of Alt News, who is under arrest for alleged blasphemous tweets. Zubair has six FIRs against him at Hathras, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Ghaziabad and Muzaffa- rnagar. There was another case lodged against him in Delhi where an Additional Sessions Judge granted him bail saying that dissent is the essence of de- mocracy . He was also granted in- terim bail by the Supreme Court in the case filed by Sitapur police. While seeking protection for Zubair from arrests Vrinda Grover told the court that it is a “vicious cycle” in which when Zubair gets bail in one FIR, he gets arrested in the other. TOP TWEETS I he previous Sun- day Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated Lulu HypermarketinLucknow, the first big ticket investment worth Rs 2,000 crore in the statecapitalandthehundreds of jobs it has created directly and indirectly . All this has happened at a time when the state is rolling out the red car- pet for investors from India and abroad and is trying to figure out how to make UP a trillion dollar economy . On Monday, the CM asked offi- cials to keep a target of Rs 10 lakh crore investments. The state, he said, had emerged as a dream destination. It may surely have become a dream destination for some. What may shatter his dream, however, is the growing reli- gious animosity between groups and the police admin- istration’s blatantly soft ap- proach towards one set of people. Some groups are bent on disrupting communal harmony when alleged Mus- lims offered namaz a day af- ter the mall was inaugurated. A Hindu group then swung into action and reached the place to recite their religious prayer. To cap it all, a sadhu descended on the place to perform shuddhikaran. The mall administration may have been caught napping by the namazis but other at- tempts were foiled. Realising the size of invest- ment the new mall has brought and the wrong mes- sage that will go out to pro- spectiveinvestors,YogiAdity- anath has now issued a stern warning not only to trouble- makers but also to Lucknow’s police administration. Hope- fully , the police will now firm- ly deal with all those itching for trouble for the sake of CM’s Rs 10 lakh crore dream. LEST YOGI’S DREAM IS SHATTERED Yogi Adityanath has now issued a stern warning not only to trouble-makers but also to Lucknow’s police administration. Hopefully, the police will now firmly deal with all those itching for trouble for the sake of CM’s `10 lakh crore dream T PREZ POLLS AGAIN EXPOSE ‘MYTH’ CALLED OPPN UNITY n July 18, the BJP and espe- cially the astute politician that PM Narendra Modi is… once again showed his politi- cal prowess and the Opposi- tion cut an extremely sorry figure as far as the presiden- tialelectionswereconcerned. To start with, the way the candidates’ names, especially in the Opposition camp was announced and the thereby rejection from the candidates themselves only reduced the stature of the Opposition. The presidential race has clearly exposed the “myth” called Opposition unity and also displayed the clueless lot of parties and their divided and half-hearted attempts to take on the Saffron might. By just naming Draupadi Murmu, PM Modi gave it a check and mate status and the BJD which (understandably) stayed away from the Opposi- tion meeting in this regard (otherthanAAPandTRS)was thefirstpartytofallinlineow- ingtothefactthatMurmuwas the daughter of Odisha! HOWEVER, ALL THAT WAS THE TRAILER… And what happened on the voting day was the full fea- ture film which exposed the fragile and brittle unity of the Opposition camp (if there’s anything left in this regard!). Yashwant Sinha, the Opposition’s pick for Presi- dent, looked already defeated. Though his name was final- ly announced by the Trina- mool supremo after the rejec- tionsfromGopalKrishnaGan- dhiandFarooqAbdullah…yet the TMC made no real-time efforts to campaign solidly for Sinha.Instead, daysbeforethe presidential polls, Mamata herself said, “Draupadi Mur- mu, who represents the tribal community and is a woman, would have been a preferred choice as a consensus candi- date, had BJP informed about her name as presidential can- didate well ahead. This itself may have been sodishearteningforYashwant Sinha and only he must have understoodhowitfeltthereaf- ter to continue in the race. Also, it may be recalled that the Congress, which also seconded Sinha, made almost cipher efforts to solicit sup- port for Sinha and Rahul Gandhi was away on a trip abroad (his fifth foreign trip this year) and returned on the voting day . By naming Murmu, the BJP made its political goal clear - to woo and win back al- lies like the Akali Dal, which supported presidential and the vice-presidential candi- dates Murmu and Dhankhar. BIHAR Even Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who these days hardlyagreeswiththeBJPon anyissues, alsofellinlineand followed the Saffron party’s strictures regarding the pres- idential polls. If all these was achieved before the battle was won, guess what happened on the day the war was fought? A day later on Tuesday while this article was being written, news reports trickling in from various parts of the country weren’t very bright for the Opposition camp. MAHARASHTRA InMaharashtra, threeMLAs… onefromtheCongressandtwo fromSharadPawar’sNational- istCongressParty(NCP)came on record and said they voted for NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu. In Gujarat, the sole NCP legislator, Kandhal Jade- ja(alsoonrecord)saidhesided for Murmu. GUJARAT Gujarat NCP president Jay- ant Patel ‘Bosky’ immediate- ly cracked down and sought an explanation from Jadeja for his act but it may be noted here that the party did not is- sue a whip, although its leg- islators were instructed ver- bally to vote for Sinha. JHARKHAND Another NCP MLA, Kamlesh Singh (from Jharkhand), cast hisballotinfavourof Murmu. Haryana Congress MLA Kul- deepBishnoi,whocross-voted in last month’s Rajya Sabha polls, said he voted according to his conscience. Indicating that he cast his ballot in fa- vourof Murmu,Bishnoisaid, “Like in Rajya Sabha, I have cast my vote in this election too as per my conscience.” Heavily criticising YashwantSinhaforoncealleg- edly calling SP patriarch Mu- layamSinghYadav“ISIagent”, PragatisheelSamajwadiParty chief andbrotherof Mulayam Singh… Shivpal Yadav said, “Hardcore SP leaders, who fol- low “Netaji’s” principles, will neversupportacandidatewho levelled such allegations.” ASSAM In Assam, AIUDF legislator Karimuddin Barbhuiya al- leged that at least 20 Con- gress MLAs voted for Mur- mu. A Congress MLA from Odisha, Mohammad Mo- quim, voted for Murmu, as the NDA presidential nomi- nee is a ‘daughter’ of (his) state and so he went by his “conscience” call. THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BY THE AUTHOR ARE PERSONAL O However, little after this article is published and read… the truth… that is the verdict will be out. With the Lok Sabha elections slated in 2024, the BJP showed clarity in its thought… and once again the depleted, disoriented and unplanned Opposition was found struggling to get its act together! By just naming Draupadi Murmu, PM Modi gave it a check and mate status and the BJD which (understandably) stayed away from the Opposition meeting in this regard (other than AAP and TRS) was the first party to fall in line owing to the fact that Murmu was the daughter of Odisha! Yashwant Sinha, the Opposition’s pick for President, looked already defeated ROBIN ROY The writer is Senior Associate Editor, Free Press Journal, Mumbai and former Managing Editor, First India

Maken moves HC against Kartikeya win in RS polls Chandigarh (PTI): Congress leader Ajay Maken moved the Pun- jab and Haryana HC, challenging BJP-JJP backed Independent candidate Kartikeya Sharma’s win in last month’s Rajya Sabha polls. This comes after the Opposition parties are up in arms to attack the government on the is- sues of price rise, GST hike, Agnipath scheme and even forced ad- journments in both the Houses of the Parlia- ment. As soon as Rajya Sab- ha assembled on the sec- ond day of the Monsoon Session, the Rajya Sab- ha was adjourned till 2 pm amid protests and sloganeering by the op- position parties over in- flation and GST rate hikes. Congress general sec- retary in charge of com- munications Jairam Ramesh tweeted, “To- day the Opposition got the Rajya Sabha ad- journed till 2pm on the issue of intolerable price rise and increase in GST, especially on food items, on which the Modi Sarkar is unwill- ing to have a debate.” MODI REMEMBERS MANGAL PANDEY ON BIRTH ANNIV TEJASHWI SLAMS BJP, RSS RAJNATH, THAKUR SLAM OPPN ON AGNIPATH New Delhi (ANI): PM Narendra Modi on Tues- day remembered Mangal Pandey on his birth anniversary and said that the freedom fighter had ignited the spark of pat- riotism at a very critical period in India’s history. “The great Mangal Pandey is synonymous with cour- age and determination. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday slammed the BJP and RSS for having caste and religion section under the documents required during the re- cruitment of Agniveers. He cited a popular Hindi idiom where it highlights that never ask the caste of a sage or a monk. Taking to a micro-blogging site Ya- dav slammed the RSS and BJP citing that the ‘Agniveers will be sort- ed out or filtered out on the basis of caste.’ “Don’t ask the caste of the monk. But ask the caste of the soldier. The BJP government of the Sangh runs away from caste census but asks for caste from Agniveer brothers who gave their lives for the service of the country,” he said. Defence Minister Ra- jnath Singh on Tuesday outrightly rejected the Opposition’s allegations of caste certificates being asked from the Agnipath aspirants and said that the practice has been in existence “since pre-independ- ence era” adding that no change has been made in the registra- tion criteria. “It’s just a rumour. (The) earlier system, existing since the pre-independence era, is going on. No change has been made. (The) old system is be- ing continued,” Singh told reporters as he rejected the allega- tions. Bengali, English and Hindi, in- formed Ministry of Home Affairs in the Parliament on Tuesday . Minister of State in MHA, Nityanand Rai in a written reply to the Lok Sabha has in- formed that MHA has given “No Objection Certificate (NOC)” to the proposals received during the last five years, for changing the name of cities across the country. All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) MP Saida Ahmad has asked a question on the details and the number of proposals received by the Minis- try of Home Affairs for getting approval to change the cities name across the country, and whether the Govern- ment has revamped the guidelines for changing the names of the heritage places. Rai replied that MHA has no such guidelines for the change of names of heritage places. In the year 2022, Punjab city “Shri Hargobindpur” name was changed to “Shri Hargobindpur Sahib”. He further informed that, in addition to the above details, a pro- posal for changing the name of “Nasrullaganj Nagar” to “Bherunda” has been received in the Ministry of Home Affairs on April 25, 2022, from the Govern- ment of MP. ‘Proposal to change WB to Bangla received’ NAME CHANGE BJP eyeing Raj Thackeray for a ‘bigger’ role? Sharat K Verma New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Par- ty is mulling over a ma- jor role for Raj Thack- eray in the politics of Maharashtra where he will be used in Maharashtra the way Trinamool Congress is thinking of Shubhendu Adhikari in West B e n - gal or O Panneersel- vam in Tamil Nadu. There is a proposal to include the rebel lead- ers of Shiv Sena in Raj Thackeray’s party Ma- harashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). With this Shiv Sena will be left with Uddhav Thacker- ay and Eknath Shinde faction will also get one party, one Thackeray. The second proposal is to eliminate Shiv Sena through Shinde and in- stall Raj Thackeray in its place which will be extremely easy. If the matter of Eknath Shin- de and Uddhav Thack- eray reaches the Elec- tion Commission, the commission will con- fiscate the party’s name and symbol. After that most of Uddhav’s re- maining leaders will also go with Shinde or BJP. At the same time Raj Thackeray will be established with the help of BJP. For this there is talk of making his son a minister in the state government. Raj Thackeray’s son Amit Thackeray is very active and was current- ly on a tour of Konkan. He is being considered as the ‘kaat’ of Aaditya Thackeray. He is not even MLA or MLC right now. Still, if he becomes a minister, it will be easy for Raj Thackeray to unite his supporters. ELECTION COMMISSION CAN CONFISCATE PARTY’S NAME AND SYMBOL If the matter of Eknath Shinde and Ud- dhav Thackeray reaches the Election Commission, the commission will con- fiscate the party’s name and symbol. After that most of Uddhav’s remaining leaders will also go with Shinde or BJP. At the same time Raj Thackeray will be established with the help of BJP. For this there is talk of making his son a minister in the state government. Raj Thackeray’s son Amit Thackeray is very active and was currently on a tour of Konkan. In an affidavit filed before the high court earlier this month, Jaiswal has claimed that the plea filed by Ra- jendra Trivedi, a for- mer assistant commis- sioner (ACP) of the Ma- harashtra police, was malafide and a result of a “personal grudge”. “No case has been made out by the peti- tioner to invoke the ex- traordinary jurisdic- tion of the high court,” Jaiswal’s affidavit read. “The petitioner has filed the present peti- tion with a personal grudge against the an- swering respondent and only out of sheer vendetta and venge- ance,” it said. The CBI director filed his affidavit in response to a previous direction by the high court while hearing Trivedi’s plea. In his plea filed through advocate SB Talekar, Trivedi has sought that Jaiswal’s appointment as the di- rector of the CBI be quashed. Jaiswal’s appoint- ment was in contraven- tion of the Delhi Police Establishment Act, the plea stated, seeking that the high court call for the records and pro- ceedings of the three- member committee that had approved Jaiswal’s candidature. The petitioner also said that the CBI direc- tor must necessarily be the senior most IPS of- ficer with impeccable and unbreachable cred- ibility and an experi- ence in investigating anti-corruption cases. Jaiswal, during his tenure, had never been attached to any anti- corruption wing and hence, did not possess the requisite experi- ence required under the Act, Trivedi claimed in the plea. The petition also stat- ed that a special investi- gation team (SIT) head- ed by Jaiswal, who was then a deputy inspector general, was set up in 2002 to investigate a fake and counterfeit stamps case, in refer- ence to the Telgi case. Strictures were passed against Jaiswal by the Supreme Court in the case and it was transferred to the CBI. The Apex Court’s obser- vations had not been withdrawn or expunged till date, it said. It refers to a predomi- nant mode of ex- pression, whether it be custom, style of dress, speech, or other. Inherent in the term is the idea that the mode will change more quickly than the culture as a whole. But for some fashion is not just a style of dress but more specifically it is an ‘eye of person- ality, display of indi- viduality’ a person’s fashion gives the world around them an idea of who they are. It describes who we really are. Fash- ions in clothing have been used throughout history to allow the wear- ers to express emotion or solidarity with other peo- ple. It has been used as an indicator of social class or social status, or as a gauge of how attuned they are to the popular trends of the time. According to the re- searcher, Mary Lynn Damhorst says “A dress is a systematic means of transmission of informa- tion about the wearer.” It is frequently used in a positive sense, as a syno- nym for glamour and style. In this sense, fash- ionsareaformof commu- nal art, through which a culture examines its no- tions of beauty and good- ness. “Fashion” can also be used in a negative sense, as a synonym for fads,trends,andmaterial- ism. It is a cultural and social phenomenon, driv- en by the desire for the new. Youwillassociatefeelings with your clothing each time you dress, when you glance in the mirror, or when you observe others’ reactions. Your feelings on fashion might be both favourable and negative. To better organise your clothing toward a joyful style, it is crucial to un- derstand why and how you feel. The sensations and emotions related to fashion changes with time. One may evolve as a person and that can be seen through his style and clothes he wears. The illusion of flawless beau- ty, for instance, is the foundation of fashion. But if you peek behind the scenes, you’ll discov- er that the industry is considerably bigger than this. Your senses’ emo- tional cords have been mastered by it, and it has woven them into society’s fabric. Fashion is more than just a way to express your identity or original- ity via your style. Addi- tionally , fashion is more than just a trend in cloth- ing. In actuality , it is in charge of influencing so- cial interactions and moods. Science has also provided us with suffi- cient evidence to support the notion that clothing can affect how we feel. Emotion and fashion go hand in hand.
