The power of the Vlog. Benjamin Rich specialises
in short travel videos showing interesting insights
into life of another country, which can be very
successful. This channel already has 2 million
followers and it’s format can easily be adapted to
show off for any travel related industry. His
success illustrates how effective video can be to
any travel business.
3. (Fig. 3) Amazon.com - Vlogger Arthur Chichester writes a book available on kindle called The Burning Edge
Travel industry has many advantages and one is the many stories one can accumulate along the way.
Arthur made use of his popular statues and experiences, wrote a book which appears quite popular with
many good reviews, his influencer background has many good knockon effects which can be leveraged into
other mediums.
4. (Fig. 4 and Fig 5) Screenshot of Simon Wilson’s Facebook page
Continuing on from my previous slide on the theme of the
vlog, Simon Wilson boasts more than 3 million followers on
Facebook. Short easy to watch videos, if you’re on the bus,
waiting somewhere then these are perfect on your phone,
especially since we are spending more time on our phone
screens than ever. Simon is using social media platforms
really well and knows his audience. His posts generates a lot
of interest and shows if a travel business used his method, it
could be very effective. The key here is short and variety.
5. Influencers using social media to their
best effect can be hugely beneficial
considering their high volumes of
followers. One such influencer known as
Alex Preview. He is using Instagram to its
full potential. Instagram is like a showreel
of your lifestyle and good quality beautiful
photos have many of his followers
dreaming of their next destination.

6. (Fig. 7) https://onthegrid.city/
On the Grid is blog. A collaborative effort on this blog makes the content on this site very diverse and
always varied with a collection of 534 neighborhood guides created by locals sharing their favourite
hangouts. This combines the best elements of a blog and a travel website together. Variety is the key here
7. Continuing from the collaborative website/blog - On the Grid. What is unique to this site is the content is
split into neighbourhoods, and then local input on those specific areas, so you get a feel for great spots
that exists that many big travel companies might miss or could become outdated quickly, this is
updated often

8. (Fig. 9) Infographic, Funders and Founders. How Airbnb Started.
Possibly one of the biggest
travel booking websites
today, AirBnB. Here we see
they started with two guys
renting a mattress on the
floor with breakfast to being
valued $10 billion today. The
key take I get from this
infographic is how important
quality photos are, they only
started to grow once they
took photos seriously.
9. AirBnB expanded on their success by bringing in ‘Experiences’, people could for example give walking tours
or perform cooking classes. This is a great Think Outside the Box approach.
(Fig. 10) Screenshot of AirBnB experiences webpage
10. The AirBnB app is also an
important feature to note and
something the organisation
prioritised, noting the trend of
the age of their audience and
more people are using mobile
phones than the traditional
desktop, having a sleek, easy
to use app has paid off for
them and proves how
important it is.
(Fig. 11 and 12) Screenshot of AirBnB phone app
11. Albeit, there are not
many podcasts
regarding AirBnB, this
small sample made
back in 2018 gives an
idea how it could be
utilized to benefit
AirBnB ugely along
the same theme of
AirBnB Tales or
stories. If they had
their own official
podcast I think there
would be a wealth of
information at their
disposal.

12. One of the most
recognizable
franchises when
it comes to
traveling - Lonely
Planet has long
been a trusted
source of
information when
it comes to
traveling, their
range evolving
into ebooks
shows they’re
willing to move
with the times,
they also have a
forum which
makes for very
useful tips from
people on the
ground.

13. Another example of a successful blog, updated regularly divided into categories which shows they
understand their audience and what they’re likely to be interested in.
