 Representing one of the developers in a 50MW solar project in Upper Egypt.

 Advising the sponsor in the tender the 200MW solar power plant in a build-own-
operate (BOO) project proposed by the Egyptian Government.
 Advising the developer on the EPC and O&M agreements in a 50MW solar project
in Upper Egypt.
 Acting as the legal counsel for the banks on long term facilities granted to major
cement production companies to enable their plants to operate with alternative fuel
and coal.
 Representing an international company supplier of smart metering in the AMI
Procurement announced by the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company.
Employment & Labour
We have outstanding experience in handling employment, labour and social
insurance law matters. Our employment team has academic and professional
credentials, as well as intensive practical experience.

 Drafting and reviewing HR handbooks.

International Trade Law
Anti-Dumping and Safeguards

Riad & Riad has rich practical experience in trade remedies and customs regulations. Our
partners established and maintained positive communication with the Egyptian foreign trade
authorities, antidumping investigation authorities, the Customs Authority, chambers of
import and export and the Industrial Association.
We help our clients by conducting and providing complete and accurate advice on how to
prepare their responses to questionnaires and other necessary documents required by
Egyptian investigation authorities.
We can provide our clients with the following:
 Monitoring relevant Egyptian industries and reminding clients of potential
Egyptian anti-dumping or safeguard investigations.
 Advising on Egyptian anti-dumping and safeguard laws and regulations and
assisting clients to determine their strategy in specific cases.
 Participating in Egyptian safeguard investigations on behalf of clients and
providing relevant legal services.
 Assisting clients in negotiations with both Egyptian authorities and industries, and
applying for product-specific exclusion and negotiate settlements.
 Prepare non-injury briefs and reply memoranda on reports issued by the
Government setting forth its findings and conclusions.
 Handling challenges against any decisions by governmental authorities before the
Administrative Courts.
 Selected experience of our partners includes:
 Advising a multinational petroleum exporter of Polyethylene from Saudi Arabia to
Egypt in an anti-dumping investigation.
 Advising a multinational petroleum exporter of Polyester Fibres from Saudi Arabia
to Egypt in an anti-dumping investigation.
 Representing a Turkish exporter in the anti-dumping investigation against alleged
dumping of cosmetics. No anti-dumping duties were imposed.
Customs Law
We provide legal advice on Egypt’s Customs Law, including customs classification, customs
valuation, pre-shipment inspection, disputes on rules of origins, import and export licensing,
customs tariffs, and trade in services.
Selected experience of our partners include representing one of the multinational food
processing companies on customs value rules throughout highly complex investigations by
local authorities under the Agreement on Implementation of Article VII (Customs Valuation).

Litigation & Dispute Resolution
Riad & Riad has a specialized Arbitration and Dispute Resolution team. Team members have
extensive experience in handling high-value ad hoc as well as institutional arbitrations
observing rules applicable at major arbitration institutes including, ICC, ICSID, DIAC and
CRCIRA.
Our litigation department is equipped with more than 20 licensed lawyers. The head of our
litigation team has an experience of 35 years in commercial and administrative litigation and
advocacy practice. We have handled and continue to handle significant numbers of cases
before Egyptian Courts; including the Supreme Constitutional Court, the Court of Cassation
and the State Council courts. Our litigation team has unique knowledge of local culture and
practices of Egyptian judicial system.
We handle complex litigation with high value and high profile disputes involving high
strategic advice, multiple practice specialties and cross border proceedings. Our litigation
team has strong capabilities to provide wide variety of services, including:
 Prepare pre-trial succinct and meticulous assessment of the value and merits of a
dispute to advice the client on the strengths and weaknesses of each side and the
proper strategy to deploy.
 Assist in the settlement negotiations and arrangements for certain lawsuits/disputes.
 Handle lawsuits during the trial stage up until the issuance of final/enforceable
judgments. This will include preparing statement of claims, all memoranda and
briefs, attending court hearings, attending before court appointed experts, and
preparing expert opinions.
 Provide oversight, direction and tactical planning by lead experienced trial lawyers,
while delegating relevant tasks to the team in a cost effective way.
 Provide timely and precise communication about upcoming events, deadlines,
needed documents/information and allowing for enough time to juggle the
schedules, all in light of the pace of each lawsuit.
 Provide regular litigation update reports.

Dr. Fatma Salah – Partner
Fatma has more than 15 years of experience in corporate law, project finance, trade law,
cross-border transactions, and dispute resolution. She represents local and international
corporations and financial institutions from the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and
Asia as well as governmental entities. She also provides legal advices and represents clients
in high profile litigation trade investigations in a broad spectrum of business sectors.
Fatma is a professor of law at the School of Law, Cairo University since 2010. She teaches
courses of business law, international commercial arbitration and evidence law.

Dr. Eman Riad – Partner
Eman has an extensive experience on labor & employment matters and social insurance law.
She advises clients on commercial law, corporate, and pharmaceuticals. During her work
experience, she has handled the day to day legal work for multiple multi-national and local
companies.
Eman has extensive experience in negotiating collective bargaining agreements and liaising
with relevant governmental bodies; i.e. the Ministry of Manpower and Social Insurance
Ministry, and handling and resolving major employees' strikes/sit-ins. She tactically handles
internal investigations and redundancy settlements with senior employees and employees in
managerial positions. Eman is also a labor and employment law professor at Cairo
University. She is a regular speaker at labor and employment seminars and events in Egypt.

Mohamed Riad – Counsel
Mohamed focuses his practice on banking and finance. He has extensive experience in a wide
range of banking-related areas and has participated in all types of financing transactions
including secured and unsecured commercial lending, project finance and asset-based
lending.
Mohamed has more than 10 years of experience with reputable law firms in Egypt and the
GCC as well as significant international financial institutions. Throughout his years of
expertise, he had worked also on M&A and capital market matters. He represents a
significant number of local and international companies in high profile transactions.

Sherif Mahmoud – Partner
Sherif is a senior litigation and dispute resolution lawyer with more than 35 years of
experience in representing a diverse range of major companies and state entities before all
levels of Egyptian courts including the Supreme Constitutional Court, the Court of Cassation
and the State Council courts.
He specializes in anti-dumping litigation, civil, commercial and criminal proceedings and
white collar crimes. Sherif has wide experience using alternative dispute resolution methods
where appropriate to achieve the best results for his clients, including commercial mediation
and arbitration.

Dr. Abdel Moneem Zamzam – Counsel
Abdel Moneem is an expert in international trade law, multijurisdictional transactions, and
public and regulatory law. He has more than 20 years of experience advising multinational
and local companies as well as governmental entities in high-profile international trade cases.
Abdel Moneem currently occupies the position of Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law, Cairo
University. He teaches nationality and immigration law, conflict of laws and jurisdictions, as
well as international trade law at Cairo University, and the Institute de Droit des Affaires
Internationales, Paris I – Sorbonne and The Arab Studies Institute affiliated to the Arab
league.

diligence reports, companies’ articles of incorporation, as well as providing legal opinions on
various aspects of civil commercial matters including sale, distribution, agency, supply, lease
and service agreements.

(4)  Advising the sponsor in the tender the 200MW solar power plant in a build-own- operate (BOO) project proposed by the Egyptian Government.  Advising the developer on the EPC and O&M agreements in a 50MW solar project in Upper Egypt.  Acting as the legal counsel for the banks on long term facilities granted to major cement production companies to enable their plants to operate with alternative fuel and coal.  Representing an international company supplier of smart metering in the AMI Procurement announced by the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company. Employment & Labour We have outstanding experience in handling employment, labour and social insurance law matters. International Trade Law Anti-Dumping and Safeguards

Our partners established and maintained positive communication with the Egyptian foreign trade authorities, antidumping investigation authorities, the Customs Authority, chambers of import and export and the Industrial Association. We help our clients by conducting and providing complete and accurate advice on how to prepare their responses to questionnaires and other necessary documents required by Egyptian investigation authorities. We can provide our clients with the following:  Monitoring relevant Egyptian industries and reminding clients of potential Egyptian anti-dumping or safeguard investigations.  Advising on Egyptian anti-dumping and safeguard laws and regulations and assisting clients to determine their strategy in specific cases.  Participating in Egyptian safeguard investigations on behalf of clients and providing relevant legal services.  Assisting clients in negotiations with both Egyptian authorities and industries, and applying for product-specific exclusion and negotiate settlements.  Prepare non-injury briefs and reply memoranda on reports issued by the Government setting forth its findings and conclusions.  Handling challenges against any decisions by governmental authorities before the Administrative Courts.  Selected experience of our partners includes:  Advising a multinational petroleum exporter of Polyethylene from Saudi Arabia to Egypt in an anti-dumping investigation.  Advising a multinational petroleum exporter of Polyester Fibres from Saudi Arabia to Egypt in an anti-dumping investigation.  Representing a Turkish exporter in the anti-dumping investigation against alleged dumping of cosmetics. No anti-dumping duties were imposed. Customs Law We provide legal advice on Egypt’s Customs Law, including customs classification, customs valuation, pre-shipment inspection, disputes on rules of origins, import and export licensing, customs tariffs, and trade in services. Selected experience of our partners include representing one of the multinational food processing companies on customs value rules throughout highly complex investigations by local authorities under the Agreement on Implementation of Article VII (Customs Valuation).

Team members have extensive experience in handling high-value ad hoc as well as institutional arbitrations observing rules applicable at major arbitration institutes including, ICC, ICSID, DIAC and CRCIRA. Our litigation department is equipped with more than 20 licensed lawyers. The head of our litigation team has an experience of 35 years in commercial and administrative litigation and advocacy practice. We have handled and continue to handle significant numbers of cases before Egyptian Courts; including the Supreme Constitutional Court, the Court of Cassation and the State Council courts. Our litigation team has unique knowledge of local culture and practices of Egyptian judicial system. We handle complex litigation with high value and high profile disputes involving high strategic advice, multiple practice specialties and cross border proceedings. Our litigation team has strong capabilities to provide wide variety of services, including:  Prepare pre-trial succinct and meticulous assessment of the value and merits of a dispute to advice the client on the strengths and weaknesses of each side and the proper strategy to deploy.  Assist in the settlement negotiations and arrangements for certain lawsuits/disputes.  Handle lawsuits during the trial stage up until the issuance of final/enforceable judgments. She also provides legal advices and represents clients in high profile litigation trade investigations in a broad spectrum of business sectors. Fatma is a professor of law at the School of Law, Cairo University since 2010. She teaches courses of business law, international commercial arbitration and evidence law. Abdel Moneem currently occupies the position of Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law, Cairo University.
