1. This newsletter informs WIC grantees
and stakeholders of changes to WIC
Policy and Procedures (PP) and program
resources requiring updates and
reflecting the design and functionality of
the SPIRIT system. Some program
policy and procedure changes will need
USDA approval before implementation.
Simple Nutrition Decisions (SND) is
analyzing differences and documenting
changes between how AKWIC supports
and how SPIRIT will support WIC
Program business.
There are six project deliverables.
Project phases include obtaining,
reviewing, and analyzing existing
data and project documents,
summarizing analysis results,
drafting updated program resources
and submitting to the State.

The SPIRIT Implementation-GAP Analysis and the Business Rule Mapping to FSRD Requirements were
cross referenced and analyzed and summarized Alaska WIC Business Rules (BR) needing policy and
procedure changes to conform to SPIRIT and supporting WIC Program primary, secondary and tertiary
functions.
