What is Social Media?
Social media are computer-mediated tools that allows people to create,
share or exchange information, ideas, pictures and videos in virtual
communities and networks. Social media depend on mobile and web-
based technologies to create highly interactive platforms through which
individuals and communities share, co-create, discuss, and modify user-
generated content.
There are some common features.
 Social media are interactive Web 2.0 Internet-based applications
 User-generated content, such as text posts or comments, digital
photos or videos, and data generated through all online interactions,
is the lifeblood of social media.
 Users create service-specific profiles for the website or app that are
designed and maintained by the social media organization.
 Social media facilitate the development of online social networks by
connecting a user's profile with those of other individuals or groups.

Facebook is a fastest growing popular online platform that enables customisation
of user interface, which also includes installing applications to personalize that
experience further. Users are connected to their friends very quickly as they could
receive notifications when someone in the network has made changes or
updates to his/her current profile.

Twitter is an online news and social networking service where users post and
interact with messages, known as "tweets." These messages were originally
restricted to 140 characters, but on November 7, 2017, the limit was doubled to
280 characters for all languages except Japanese, Korean and
Chinese. Registered users can post tweets, but those who are unregistered can
only read them. Users access Twitter through its website interface, Short
Message Service (SMS) or mobile device application software("app"). Twitter,
Inc. is based in San Francisco, California, United States, and has more than 25
offices around the world.

LinkedIn is a business- and employment-oriented social networking service that
operates via websites and mobile apps. Founded on December 28, 2002, and
launched on May 5, 2003, it is mainly used for professional networking, including
employers posting jobs and job seekers posting their CVs. As of 2015, most of the
company's revenue came from selling access to information about its members to
recruiters and sales professionals. As of April 2017, LinkedIn had 500 million members
in 200 countries, out of which more than 106 million members are active. LinkedIn
allows members (both workers and employers) to create profiles and "connections" to
each other in an online social network which may represent real-world professional
relationships.
Google Plus
Google Plus (stylized as Google+) is an Internet based social network that is
owned and operated by Google.
The service, Google's fourth foray into social networking, experienced strong
growth in its initial years, although usage statistics have varied, depending on
how the service is defined. Three Google executives have overseen the
service, which has undergone substantial changes leading to a redesign in
November 2015.
Google+ launched in June 2011. Features included the ability to post photos
and status updates to the stream or interest based communities, group
different types of relationships (rather than simply "friends") into Circles, a multi-
person instant messaging, text and video chat called Hangouts, events,
location tagging, and the ability to edit and upload photos to private cloud-
based albums.
YouTube is an American video-Sharing website headquartered in San Bruno,
California. The Service was Created by three former PayPal Employees-Chad
Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim-in February 2005.Google bought this site
in November 2006 for US$1.65 billion; YouTube now operates as one of
Google’s subsidiaries.
YouTube allows users to upload, view, rate, share, add to favourites, report,
comment on videos, and subscribe to other users. It offers a wide variety of
user-generated and corporate media videos. Available content includes
video clips, TV show clips, music videos, short and documentary films, audio
recordings, movie trailers, live streams, and other content on YouTube is
uploaded by individuals, but media corporations including CBS, the BBC, and
Hulu offer some of their material via YouTube as part of the partnership
program. Unregistered users can only watch the videos on the site.

platform all over the world amongst all
other Social Media platforms, including
LinkedIn In, Twitter, YouTube and
Google+.
 Facebook is also the most adopted and
used Social Media Platform following its
easy to use services, features & Hi-Tech
facilities it provides to its users and
client across the world.
Following the previous slide and given statistics we can clearly state that
Facebook is the most used and effective Social Media today. In the few years that
Facebook entered the scene, It was meant to be the best way to socialize and
connect. It didn't take long for this service to expand and become inclusive of
people of all ages, from 13 on up. For several years now, Facebook as maintained
its title of the best social networking website.
Reasons for which, Facebook is the most effective social media
platform: (Justifying the given statistics)
 Facebook as become a way of life. People can constantly communicate
wit each other: This Social media is so pervasive that it’s unusual if someone
claim they don’t have a Facebook Account.
 Facebook’s website design is straight forward

Drawbacks of Facebook
 One of the major concern and disadvantages of Facebook is its Privacy. Due to
ignorance and lack of understanding many new able make mistakes.
 Facebook is full of Fake profiles. There is no limit to such profiles, most of them
are created by stalkers and marketers to gain more friends and use it for their
marketing purposes.
 One of the serious issues of Facebook is its security. Now-a-days it is very
common we hear someone has hacked someone other’s profile.
Enhancement of Facebook: (We visualize it should implement to retain its position
as No.1 in the coming next three years)
1. Security is a main concern of Facebook. Security system should be more
defensive so that no one can hack other’s profile
2. People should understand the privacy setting of the Facebook clearly and use it
properly.

  • 3. What is Social Media? Social media are computer-mediated tools that allows people to create, share or exchange information, ideas, pictures and videos in virtual communities and networks. Social media depend on mobile and web- based technologies to create highly interactive platforms through which individuals and communities share, co-create, discuss, and modify user- generated content. There are some common features.  Social media are interactive Web 2.0 Internet-based applications  User-generated content, such as text posts or comments, digital photos or videos, and data generated through all online interactions, is the lifeblood of social media.  Users create service-specific profiles for the website or app that are designed and maintained by the social media organization.  Social media facilitate the development of online social networks by connecting a user's profile with those of other individuals or groups.

Three Google executives have overseen the service, which has undergone substantial changes leading to a redesign in November 2015. Google+ launched in June 2011. Features included the ability to post photos and status updates to the stream or interest based communities, group different types of relationships (rather than simply "friends") into Circles, a multi- person instant messaging, text and video chat called Hangouts, events, location tagging, and the ability to edit and upload photos to private cloud- based albums.

YouTube allows users to upload, view, rate, share, add to favourites, report, comment on videos, and subscribe to other users. It offers a wide variety of user-generated and corporate media videos. Available content includes video clips, TV show clips, music videos, short and documentary films, audio recordings, movie trailers, live streams, and other content on YouTube is uploaded by individuals, but media corporations including CBS, the BBC, and Hulu offer some of their material via YouTube as part of the partnership program. Unregistered users can only watch the videos on the site.

In the few years that Facebook entered the scene, It was meant to be the best way to socialize and connect. It didn't take long for this service to expand and become inclusive of people of all ages, from 13 on up. For several years now, Facebook as maintained its title of the best social networking website. Reasons for which, Facebook is the most effective social media platform: (Justifying the given statistics)  Facebook as become a way of life.   • 12. Drawbacks of Facebook  One of the major concern and disadvantages of Facebook is its Privacy. Due to ignorance and lack of understanding many new able make mistakes.  Facebook is full of Fake profiles. There is no limit to such profiles, most of them are created by stalkers and marketers to gain more friends and use it for their marketing purposes.  One of the serious issues of Facebook is its security. Now-a-days it is very common we hear someone has hacked someone other’s profile. Enhancement of Facebook: (We visualize it should implement to retain its position as No.1 in the coming next three years) 1. Security is a main concern of Facebook. Security system should be more defensive so that no one can hack other’s profile 2. People should understand the privacy setting of the Facebook clearly and use it properly.
