● Future or the fifth generation of mobile internet connectivity
● Operate based on three different spectrum bands which are
○ Low-band spectrum
-Offers great coverage and penetration
○ Mid-band spectrum
-Provides much faster coverage including lower latency
○ High-band spectrum
-Offers peak speed up to 10 Gbps
-Offers even much lower latency compared to the previous spectrum

○ Voice Calls in one Country

○ Digital Technology
○ data bandwidth of 64kbps
○ Text messages, picture messages and multimedia messages

○ Data Bandwidth 2Mbps
○ web application technology, high speed web connections, video streaming and video conferencing
● 4G
○ 10 Mbps to 1Gbps transfer speeds

● The three main benefits that are expected from 5G are:
○ Speed, Low latency, and Increased in connectivity
● Some of the area that would be able to benefited from 5G technology are:
○ Healthcare services
- increases in Broadband speed are able to support advanced e-Health, m-health
○ Education
- Education through live streaming will be viable due to the highly improve in low latency of 5G technology
○ Retails
-Virtual shopping malls
Limitations of 5G
● Shorter Range than 4G
● 5G Security Protocols are undefined and highly
vulnerability
● Infrastructure is undeveloped for full 5G Networks
Technology vs Hype
● Technology
Smartphones requires new chips and radio antennas to tap in 5G network.
5G technology is complex.
Government need to cater much more spectrum.
Mobile Operators → to hire and provide training of tens of thousands of new staff to get the networks up.
● Hype
Smart cities→ networks of connected sensors will be capable to manage traffic and to pinpoint streetlight outages
Self-driving cars → will be able to connect and create a new horizon of new applications in virtual and augmented reality in the
automotive industry.
Medical field→ remote surgery and other telemedicine will be overall improved.
Factories→ automation grows exponentially.
Technologies that can make 5G happen
Massive MIMO
● convincing sub-6 GHz physical-layer technology for future remote access
● excellent spectral efficiency
● superior energy efficiency, by virtue of the array gain, that permits a reduction
of radiated power
Beamforming
● efficient data-delivery route to individual users
● help massive MIMO arrays make more efficient use of the spectrum around
them
● direction can change several times per millisecond
Technologies that can make 5G happen
● Millimeter wave (mmWave)
Specific range of radio frequency spectrum ranges from 24 GHz and
100GHz.
Shorter wavelength = faster data transfer
Thou, data transfer distance is shorter.
Able to increase the amount of bandwidth available for a small area
coverage.

Better spectral efficiency and overall network
performance and capacity.
Able to overcome penetration of walls, tress, buildings

What is expected from 5G networks?
● higher speeds and capacity, and much lower latency
● widely utilized for private networks with applications in industrial IoT
● transition to 5G is the convergence of multiple networking functions to
achieve cost, power and complexity reductions of Wifi-cellular
convergence
● telecoms companies expect to save money in the future by not having
to create last mile cable access for customers

What is 5G ● Future or the fifth generation of mobile internet connectivity ● Operate based on three different spectrum bands which are ○ Low-band spectrum -Offers great coverage and penetration ○ Mid-band spectrum -Provides much faster coverage including lower latency ○ High-band spectrum -Offers peak speed up to 10 Gbps -Offers even much lower latency compared to the previous spectrum

Benefits Of 5G ● The three main benefits that are expected from 5G are: ○ Speed, Low latency, and Increased in connectivity ● Some of the area that would be able to benefited from 5G technology are: ○ Healthcare services - increases in Broadband speed are able to support advanced e-Health, m-health ○ Education - Education through live streaming will be viable due to the highly improve in low latency of 5G technology ○ Retails -Virtual shopping malls
  • 7. Limitations of 5G ● Shorter Range than 4G ● 5G Security Protocols are undefined and highly vulnerability ● Infrastructure is undeveloped for full 5G Networks
  • 8. Technology vs Hype ● Technology Smartphones requires new chips and radio antennas to tap in 5G network. 5G technology is complex. Government need to cater much more spectrum. Mobile Operators → to hire and provide training of tens of thousands of new staff to get the networks up. ● Hype Smart cities→ networks of connected sensors will be capable to manage traffic and to pinpoint streetlight outages Self-driving cars → will be able to connect and create a new horizon of new applications in virtual and augmented reality in the automotive industry. Medical field→ remote surgery and other telemedicine will be overall improved. Factories→ automation grows exponentially.

Technologies that can make 5G happen Massive MIMO ● convincing sub-6 GHz physical-layer technology for future remote access ● excellent spectral efficiency ● superior energy efficiency, by virtue of the array gain, that permits a reduction of radiated power Beamforming ● efficient data-delivery route to individual users ● help massive MIMO arrays make more efficient use of the spectrum around them ● direction can change several times per millisecond

Shorter wavelength = faster data transfer Thou, data transfer distance is shorter. Able to increase the amount of bandwidth available for a small area coverage. Example: Stadium and Malls

What is expected from 5G networks? ● higher speeds and capacity, and much lower latency ● widely utilized for private networks with applications in industrial IoT ● transition to 5G is the convergence of multiple networking functions to achieve cost, power and complexity reductions of Wifi-cellular convergence ● telecoms companies expect to save money in the future by not having to create last mile cable access for customers
