Notas do Editor

  1. Give examples: Maasai in Kenya, Mongolia, Sami in Scandinavia, … Different forms of pastoralism e.g. agro-pastoralists
  2. Disruption of mobility routes: traditional migration routes disrupted Loss of or exclusion from rangeland through extension of intensive agriculture, nature conservation and other land uses such as mining Bad access to social and health services: Conventional services have not been developed for mobile communities in remote areas, so many pastoral communities have difficulty accessing public institutions, schools and health services. Innovative approaches and cultural sensitivity are needed to overcome these challenges Often misunderstood und marginalized: Excluded from political dialogue: are not evolved in political processes at regional or national level or present as stakeholders in important global forums
  3. Large GDP of countries Extensive livestock grazing mimics grazing patterns of wildlife ESS services: Through managing rangelands, pastoralists form and maintain soils, regulate the water cycle, maintain biodiversity and reduce the risk of for example fires.
