• After the introduction of the innovation pipeline concept at the general
innovation session on Monday morning, the today's joint workshop on
Hydrogen & Fuel Cells has 2 main objectives:
• Firstly, to strongly increase European Added Value by the improved
coordination established through setting up a specific innovation
pipeline for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells in Europe, i.e. to give this
innovative topic a strong push towards the market.
• Today, all players: programmes, agencies, regions & towns and
above all, industry and businesses, are brought together to make it
happen, - now,
• - by clearly declaring what to do in the next few years; by
understanding what support is required – financial and legislative -, -
research and entrepreneurial.
• Hydrogen & Fuel Cells, a topic which is expected to have a strategic
impact on the future of transport (& beyond, eg energy storage) in
Europe, but also on other EC policies such as the
environment/climate change/health, oil dependence and jobs.
• Secondly, to test the effectiveness and usefulness of our new tool,
the 4-facet joint innovation workshop to set up a specific pipeline.
• Why choosing Hydrogen and Fuel Cells as the first candidate? –
Because mass production started in January 2015 at leading Asian
companies (Hyundai and Toyota).
• If judged by all of us to be useful, then also to offer this tool to other
strategic innovation topics in need of a strong push on European
level.
