PREFACE
The focus of student teaching portfolio is observation of the learners, school
structure and the community. The Pre-service teachers have been exposed to the
school and classroom facilities and the organizational set up of the school. The Pre-
service teachers shall observe the behavior of the learners in the actual learning
environment. Based on these observations of learner’s pre-service teachers shall
develop their understanding on feasible approaches to facilitate learning considering
the various phases of growth and development.
This portfolio was made for the compilation of the output of the pre-service
teacher during practice teaching. The content of this is useful for the teachers. The
personal experiences of the pre-service teachers, sample lesson plan, instructional
materials and other important details were published here. It is then published for the
readers to understand the life of being a pre-service teacher.
The author of this portfolio is a pre-service teacher who taught at Coliling
National High School. It will serve as the reference of pre-service teachers on their
journey as they will be a real professional teacher soon.

INTRODUCTION
Life is beautiful but not always easy, it has problems, too, and the challenge
lies in facing them with courage, letting the beauty of life act like a balm, which makes
the pain bearable, during trying times, by providing hope. Happiness, sorrow, victory,
defeat, day-night are the two sides of the me coin. Similarly, life is full of moments of
joy, pleasure, success and comfort punctuated by misery, defeat, failures and
problems. There is no human being on Earth, strong, powerful, wise or rich, who has
not experienced, struggle, suffering or failure.
Difficulties test the courage, patience, perseverance and true character of a
human being. Adversity and hardships make a person strong and ready to face the
challenges of life with equanimity. There is no doubt that there can be no gain without
pain. It is only when one toils and sweats it out that success is nourished and
sustained.
Thus, life is and should not be just a bed of roses; thorns are also a part of it
and should be accepted by us just as we accept the beautiful side of life. The thorns
remind one of how success and happiness can be evasive and thus not to feel
disappointed and disheartened rather remember that the pain of thorns is short-lived,
and the beauty of life would soon overcome the prick of thorns.
I do not dream of doing large-scale things and winning recognition or
awards. Besides finishing my studies to keep expanding the knowledge that I have to
give others; I think the most important contribution I can make is in making a difference
in someone’s life. Positive comments, showing trust in someone, and
vi
taking an action that communicates care and respect, can positively change
someone’s view of themselves and perhaps their life, as well. What could be more
important? Teachers have both the power and opportunity to do a great amount of
good for many people. I know that I will take all the opportunities available to nurture,
encourage and bring joy to those around me.
My experience during my off-campus training made me realize that teaching
our young leaders demands time, patience, understanding, compassion, passion,
optimism and lots of efforts. Teaching is a profession that one cannot be taken for
granted, sometimes it is frustrating and exhausting, but these more taken away by just
one small smile of the children and it made me realize that living in this world is not
only about you, it must be also about the humanity. In living this world, we must not
only think the job that we have but the people who are benefited from what we were
doing.
Pre-service Teaching is full of challenges that we never thought exists. At some
point we are already being a teacher, for a certain period of time. So, we must act like
a real one, may it be physically, emotionally, and spiritually, and I know that Pre-
service teaching will really turn our head into nuts but we must always be tactful, we
must always display and be good in every way we can, we will become the best version
of teachers that we could be for this generation. I know that these kinds of teachers
are very needed in our time nowadays.
vii
Teaching is a noblest profession because teachers must go beyond to the fullest of
having a great effort to deliver a good quality of education to educate their students.
Teaching as profession requires a great motivation and moral strength, it aims at
enlightening and contentment of mind in men broadens and illuminates the corners of
human hearts and mind. Let me say that the teaching is the profession which shows
man the road which leads him to God as the teacher touches, a mission and vision in
life to share our knowledge to our students then it’s our vocation not just a job to earn
salary but also to reap a good fruit through students who gain knowledge and discover
their own capabilities from our guidance.
viii
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I would like to express my whole-heartedly thanks to the following people
behind the success of my Off-campus Pre-service Teaching, to those people who were
able to give their willingness to help me, and for their unwavering and undying support,
encouragement, financial assistance and precious time for the accomplishment of this
portfolio.
Above all To the Almighty God, thank you for giving me the strengths, patience,
guidance, and for the continuous blessings and undying love, and for bellowing
knowledge and for all the blessings that he has provided and poured upon me. He has
shown his unconditional and pure love by using the people around me who are able
to let me feel that I am loved and cared during this part of my life.
To my dearest parents, Lilia Manzon and Ignacio L. Manzon Jr. for their
support, financially, and undying love they gave to me for always encouraging me to
do things at my best and for always being there through ups and down.
To my college friends thank you for being so supportive to come up for this
challenge to realize that I can do this even though we’re assigned to different schools.
To Ms. Julia C. Tagulao, the principal of my cooperating school, Coliling
National High School for the unconditional love that she had shown to me and for
giving us timely advices and suggestions just to help us become better in our teaching
endeavor.
ix
To my fellow Co-Pre-service Teacher, for their support and love since the first day
we have met each other. Thank for being my mentor in one of the most important parts
of my. I would also like to give my deepest appreciation for their companion through
thick and thin, for always believing in my abilities and for the encouragement that they
have instilled in my mind.
To Mr. Aldin C. Abalos, I know that you knew how grateful I am for having you
as my cooperating teacher. Thank you for giving me nothing but the full support,
kindness and undying effort to help me specially in preparing my Instructional
Materials and lesson for my demonstration and for all the knowledge and skills that
you imparted me to become an effective and efficient teacher.

BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
Hey Everyone! My name is Erwin DG. Manzon, I’m currently residing at Brgy.
Agdao San Carlos City, Pangasinan. I am the eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Ignacio L.
Manzon Jr. I was born on January 26, 1999. My parents’ name are Lilia Ursua Manzon
and Ignacio L. Manzon Jr. My father’s occupation is an electrician at Virgen Milagrosa
University Foundation. He’s doing the job for almost 20 years. My mother is Lilia U.
Manzon, she is working as Dormitory matron in VMUF.
“To become a teacher” My dream career I set in stone for myself was at a very
young age. I was constantly writing humors stories, make believe fairy tales, and a
story full of thrilling drama in a journal my aunt gave me for Christmas. College has
opened my mind to a new perspective of other future career choices that may suit me
better then what I thought.

  • 5. v INTRODUCTION Life is beautiful but not always easy, it has problems, too, and the challenge lies in facing them with courage, letting the beauty of life act like a balm, which makes the pain bearable, during trying times, by providing hope. Happiness, sorrow, victory, defeat, day-night are the two sides of the me coin. Similarly, life is full of moments of joy, pleasure, success and comfort punctuated by misery, defeat, failures and problems. There is no human being on Earth, strong, powerful, wise or rich, who has not experienced, struggle, suffering or failure. Difficulties test the courage, patience, perseverance and true character of a human being. Adversity and hardships make a person strong and ready to face the challenges of life with equanimity. There is no doubt that there can be no gain without pain. It is only when one toils and sweats it out that success is nourished and sustained. Thus, life is and should not be just a bed of roses; thorns are also a part of it and should be accepted by us just as we accept the beautiful side of life. The thorns remind one of how success and happiness can be evasive and thus not to feel disappointed and disheartened rather remember that the pain of thorns is short-lived, and the beauty of life would soon overcome the prick of thorns. I do not dream of doing large-scale things and winning recognition or awards. Besides finishing my studies to keep expanding the knowledge that I have to give others; I think the most important contribution I can make is in making a difference in someone’s life. Positive comments, showing trust in someone, and
  • 6. vi taking an action that communicates care and respect, can positively change someone’s view of themselves and perhaps their life, as well. What could be more important? Teachers have both the power and opportunity to do a great amount of good for many people. I know that I will take all the opportunities available to nurture, encourage and bring joy to those around me. My experience during my off-campus training made me realize that teaching our young leaders demands time, patience, understanding, compassion, passion, optimism and lots of efforts. Teaching is a profession that one cannot be taken for granted, sometimes it is frustrating and exhausting, but these more taken away by just one small smile of the children and it made me realize that living in this world is not only about you, it must be also about the humanity. In living this world, we must not only think the job that we have but the people who are benefited from what we were doing. Pre-service Teaching is full of challenges that we never thought exists. At some point we are already being a teacher, for a certain period of time. So, we must act like a real one, may it be physically, emotionally, and spiritually, and I know that Pre- service teaching will really turn our head into nuts but we must always be tactful, we must always display and be good in every way we can, we will become the best version of teachers that we could be for this generation. I know that these kinds of teachers are very needed in our time nowadays.
  • 7. vii Teaching is a noblest profession because teachers must go beyond to the fullest of having a great effort to deliver a good quality of education to educate their students. Teaching as profession requires a great motivation and moral strength, it aims at enlightening and contentment of mind in men broadens and illuminates the corners of human hearts and mind. Let me say that the teaching is the profession which shows man the road which leads him to God as the teacher touches, a mission and vision in life to share our knowledge to our students then it’s our vocation not just a job to earn salary but also to reap a good fruit through students who gain knowledge and discover their own capabilities from our guidance.
