Direct Fired Thermal
Oxidizer
Epcon is an industry leader in Direct Fired Thermal Oxidizer
(DFTO) control equipment technology specializing in custom
modular units for stand alone as well as trailer-mounted
applications. Epcon is pleased to offer different purchase,
lease, and rental agreement options to suit any need.
Direct Fired Thermal Oxidizers may also be called
Afterburners or Direct Flame Thermal Oxidizers. Thermal
oxidation is a method of air pollution control that can be
applied to incineration for air polluted with small particles or
combustible solids or liquids.
Direct Fired Thermal Oxidizers are ideal solutions for high
solvent loading and fluctuating operating conditions.

Recuperative Thermal
Oxidizer
Epcon is an industry leader in Thermal Oxidizer technology
specializing in the integration of customers’ process
heating operations together with their Thermal Oxidizer
requirements. In simple terms, a recuperative thermal
oxidizer is the evolution of the direct fired thermal oxidizer
through the addition of primary and/or secondary heat
recovery.
Addition of heat recovery to the oxidation process can
provide tremendous costs savings with respect to minimizing
the use of natural gas for the air pollution control application
as well as external process heat loads.

Thermal Catalytic
Oxidizer
Depending on the nature of the vent stream to be controlled,
addition of catalyst to a thermal oxidation system may be a means
to further optimize operating costs of the compliance strategy.
Epcon has successfully employed catalysts for Regenerative
Thermal Oxidizers (RTO), Recuperative Thermal
Oxidizers and Direct Fired Thermal Oxidizer configurations. Epcon
designs thermal catalytic oxidizer systems to accept various types
of catalysts. With our in-house catalyst experts, we can assure
optimal catalyst selection and application to various process
exhaust streams. Our experts work together with clients to
understand the specific application requirements and working with
global catalyst manufacturers match those requirements to the
most appropriate catalyst type and control technology

Scrubber
A scrubber is a piece of air pollution control
equipment that removes harmful gases and particles
from industrial exhaust streams. A scrubber is a
versatile system and can be designed for both
particulate as well as gaseous pollution abatement,
and is able to handle high volumes, fluctuation in
pressure and process flows. Typically, a scrubber is
installed before the RTO system, and is often paired
with a quench system to decrease the process
temperatures and further neutralize the process
flows.

Process Heating
Equipment
Epcon has been engineering and manufacturing process heating
equipment since 1977. With experience across applications –
nothing is too complex, and no size is too big for us.
We have designed Batch and Automated Conveyorized Ovens and
Furnaces for many industries. From implementing pneumatic
guillotine doors, or car bottom carts, multi-tier high speed
conveyors and an infinite custom design features and
configurations to optimize your process. Additionally, we design
your ovens and furnaces with a variety of fuel sources from Natural
Gas, Liquid Natural Gas, Electric, Oil Fired, and Steam. Beyond this
we can implement heat recovery methods that allow for burnerless

Integrated Systems
Since our founding in 1977, Epcon’s expertise has been in
custom integrated solutions. These consist of both combining
process heating operations with air pollution control systems,
as well as multistage heat recovery.
The integrated “Oven/Oxidizer Combination” design is one of
Epcon’s engineering specialties, with several patented
systems proven across multiple installations around the
globe. During the oxidation process inclusion of heat recovery
that recycles the heat to operate the process heating ovens
and furnaces, equates to cost savings by minimizing operating

Heat Recovery Systems
Epcon has been designing and manufacturing custom heat recovery methods

operations with air pollution control systems, as well as multistage heat
recovery.
The integrated “Oven/Oxidizer Combination” design with multistage heat
recovery though heat exchangers is what sets apart Epcon from other industrial
suppliers. With thousands of patented systems proven across multiple
installations around the globe, we have saved our customers millions in
operating cost.
We utilize various types of Heat Exchangers for transferring heat in the process,
making use of thermal energy which would otherwise be wasted. In systems
manufactured at Epcon, heat exchangers are used for pre-heating the process
gas as it enters the thermal oxidizer, also called primary heat exchanger. These
are typically in the form of regenerative and recuperative thermal oxidizers and
economizers. From there secondary heating systems, via thermal fluid heaters
such as waste heat hot water heaters and waste heat boilers, the thermal energy
is further recycled through the as for heating of the manufacturing facilities and
heating boilers.

cleaning technology for a variety of components, systems and

bombs and munitions for the US department of defense or
