It’s the concepts, and the relationships  between these concepts, that people typically use when discussing business strategy.

. . . ask questions about why we do things the way we do, and see the impacts everywhere. By using a common platform to describe our strategywe can . . .
By using a common platform to describe our strategywe can . . . . . . debate new strategies without getting lost in terminology
Okay, we're convinced.   A common platform to describe  strategy would be useful.  But what is this platform?

STRATEGY TAKES PLACE WHEN YOU: You take the action to achieve specific measurable outcomes. S.M.A.R.T.
STRATEGY TAKES PLACE WHEN YOU: The measurable outcomes are the visible manifestations of the desires, wants, wishes of the team.
STRATEGY TAKES PLACE WHEN YOU: And consistent with:  how the entity is organized, structured, and managed
STRATEGY TAKES PLACE WHEN YOU: And consistent with:  how the entity chooses to behave
STRATEGY TAKES PLACE WHEN YOU: And finally with:  its purpose for being
STRATEGY TAKES PLACE WHEN YOU: Yes, these seven categories describe the conversations people have when they discuss strategy. That’s it, 7 categories?
STRATEGY TAKES PLACE WHEN YOU: You see, by understanding that strategy conversations are made up of separate and related sub-conversations, we eliminate confusion. I get it!  We debate the idea – not the term.
