• In 2011, it is about 809 motor vehicles per 100 people
• 37000 people die in each year, nearly 8000 people are killed In
crashes involving drives ages 16-20.( ASIRT ((Association for Safe
International Road Travel)
• In 2013, 2163 teens in the United States age 16-19 were killed. That
means that six teens ages 16-19 died every day. CDC( Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention)
3. What factor put teen drivers at risk
•Inexperience
• Teens are more likely than older drivers to underestimate
dangerous situation or not be able to recognize situations.
5. Speeding
•Teenagers like high speed. They always speed up
frequently. It is really dangerous because they
do not have good control on when to stop when
to speed up
6. Alcohol driving
• As we know, under US law, the legal age of drinking alcohol is 21.
• AMA (Amercian Medical Association) survey teens age 13 to 18
found that minors obtain alcohol easily and often from family or
friend.
• After driving alcohol, it will affect vision , reduced reaction time. You
won’t able to do action when accident happen.
7. Driving at night
• Driving at night is dangerous for teenagers . Most of the car accident
happen at night.
• Decreased visibility: making people harder to gauge distance between
your car and other objects.
• According to the CDC( Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)
surgery 51% teens deaths from car crashes at night, and 54%
occurred on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.
8. How to lower the car accident fatality
Government should Set up more driving school for teenagers.
Required teenagers to practice driving up to 100 hours in their first year
driving. Developing the right attitude about driving. You have to take
responsible to yourself, passengers and other drivers.
Legislate a night driving restriction for teenagers, requiring them not to
drive between 9 pm and 5 am in their year
Raising the exam difficulty, keep the traffic rule in their mind.
Prohibit cell phones while driving.
9. What parents can do
• Parents should keep their eye on their kid. Do not let them drink
alcohol.
• Be good role model: never drink and drive and use phone.
• Always remind you children pay attention on driving. Do not talking
on cell phone, texting or eating.
• Make sure your teen know to follow the speed limit and adjust their
speed to match road conditions
• Remain your teen to maintain enough space behind the car ahead to
avoid a crash.
