9. 2.CANOPY LAYER
The trees in the canopy layer are often
more than 30 metres tall. Birds,
mammals, insects and reptiles all live up
here. Many never leave the treetops and
spend their whole lifecycle in the canopy.
10. 3.UNDERSTORY LAYER
This is the part of the forest made up
of trunks, branches, bushes and
shrubs. Predators like jaguars and
snakes live in this section, along with
small mammals, amphibians and
reptiles.
11. 4.FOREST FLOOR4.FOREST FLOOR
This part of the forest belongs to
invertebrates, fungi and bacteria, most of
which live on the decomposing matter
that comes from the animals and trees
above. The forest floor is dark as little
sunlight penetrates though the canopy.
13. DEFINITION
• The tundra is an ecosystem with low temperatures and no
light for half the year. The most common plants are mosses,
lichens and some grasses. Tundra is sparsely inhabited and
the cycles of growth and decomposition take place at a
much slower rate than in other ecosystems.

• Producers (plants, sun…)
• Consumers: primary, secudary and terciary consumer.
• Decomposers: Feed on other death organisms.

• There is an interdependence of species wich live off each
other.
• The interdependecies form Food Webs.
• Are made up of different food chains.
• Produce energy (Biomass) food for the next tropic level.
