This document summarizes a presentation about how Emdeon, a healthcare information solutions company, implemented Oracle's Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management (FDQM) software. The project aimed to streamline Emdeon's financial reporting processes by upgrading existing Hyperion software, optimizing an Essbase database, integrating FDQM with their Oracle E-Business Suite system, and reducing processing times and IT involvement for loading actual data. As a result, actual data processing time was reduced from over 2 hours to just 20 minutes, the Essbase database size was cut by over 60%, and the finance team now manages data loads without IT assistance.

14. Why choose Financial Data Quality Management?
• Single data interface reduces complexity of multiple source systems
• Accurate data collection reduces restatement risk
• Provides tracking tool for mapping
• FDM enables built-in GL integration to remove errors and increase accuracy
• FDM map engine will replace the need to use mapping tables for SEC and
Management View reporting
• By having all mappings in FDM time to process data is reduced resulting in
quicker reporting and reduced close cycle
• Automatic audit trails with every data load. Automatically will tie out GL to
Essbase for reporting

18. The Project
• In April of 2011 Emdeon kicked off a a project to enhance their existing financial
systems which included the following:
• Hyperion Upgrade to 11.1.2.1 (Essbase / FDQM)
• Installation of a dedicated development environment
• Optimization of 400 GB Essbase Block Storage Database
• Oracle Identity Manager for user sign-ins
• Source data from Oracle EBS by leveraging Financial Data Quality
Management ERP Integration Adaptor for Oracle Applications
18
19. Before
• Actuals Processing Time (2+ hours)
• Heavy involvement from IT to support the data load process
• Batch overnight schedule
• Daily loads would prevent users from using system
• Very large block storage Essbase cube (400 GB for 6 years)
• Essbase Native Directory for user sign-ins.
• Mapping of EBS to Essbase was managed by SQL statements
(updates/inserts)
19
20. After
• Actuals Processing Time (20 minutes vs 2 hours)
• Daily loads do not interrupt usage of system
• Essbase cube (100 GB for 6 years vs 400 GB)
• Direct mapping to EBS using Financial Data Quality Management
• Finance reporting team owns and manages data load process; no involvement
from IT
