Tata Motors, the Indian multinational
automotive manufacturing company, has
launched two variants of its popular compact
SUV, the Tata Nexon. One is the petrol
version and the other is the electric version
called the Nexon EV. In this presentation, we
will compare these two versions of the car
and help you decide which one to choose.
4. Design
In terms of design, both Tata Nexon petrol and Nexon EV
have a similar exterior look. However, the EV variant has
some unique design elements such as blue accents on the
grille, wheels, and badging. The interior of both cars is also
quite similar with a spacious cabin and comfortable seats.
The main difference is in the instrument cluster, where the
EV variant has a digital display instead of analog dials.
Overall, both cars have a modern and appealing design that

The Tata Nexon petrol variant is powered by a 1.2-liter
turbocharged Revotron engine that produces 120 PS of power
and 170 Nm of torque. It comes with a 6-speed manual or a 6-
speed AMT gearbox. The petrol version can go from 0-100
kmph in 10 seconds and has a top speed of 180 kmph.
On the other hand, the Tata Nexon EV is powered by an
electric motor that produces 129 PS of power and 245 Nm of
torque. It comes with a single-speed automatic transmission.
The EV version can go from 0-100 kmph in just 9.9 seconds
and has a top speed of 120 kmph. The Nexon EV also offers
three driving modes - Drive, Sport, and Eco, which alter the
performance and range of the car.
6. Safety
Both versions of Tata Nexon come with
standard safety features such as dual-front
airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking
sensors, and a rearview camera. The petrol
version also has electronic stability control
(ESC) and hill hold control, which are not
available in the electric version.

regenerative braking, which helps in
increasing the range of the vehicle, and

version due to the absence of an engine and transmission. The electric version also has
fewer moving parts, reducing the chances of wear and tear. Additionally, the running
cost of the electric version is significantly lower than the petrol version as electricity is
cheaper than petrol.
9. Maintanence of EV
However, the initial cost of the electric version is higher than the petrol
version due to the expensive battery pack. The electric version also
requires a dedicated charging station, which can be an additional
expense. Nevertheless, the government provides incentives for
purchasing electric vehicles, making the electric version more affordable
in the long run.
10. Price & Verdict
The Tata Nexon petrol version is priced between Rs. 7.09 lakhs and Rs. 12.79
lakhs, while the Nexon EV is priced between Rs. 13.99 lakhs and Rs. 16.85
lakhs. While the initial cost of the Nexon EV is higher than the petrol version,
it offers lower running costs due to the lower cost of electricity compared to
petrol.
Moreover, the Indian government is offering incentives and subsidies for
electric vehicles, which further reduces the cost of the Nexon EV.
Additionally, the Nexon EV comes with a 3-year/1,25,000 km warranty, while
the petrol version comes with a 2-year/75,000 km warranty.
11. Conclusion
In conclusion, both the Tata Nexon petrol and Nexon EV have their own unique advantages and
disadvantages. If you are looking for a car with better performance and a longer range, then the
petrol version might be the right choice for you. However, if you want a car with lower running
