6. Part 3: Finding secondary research,
Part 4: The Client The purpose of this video is to make adults and everybody else
aware of the impact that Social Media and Technology can have on
children and teenagers. The people in this video are explaining
how, for girls mostly, Social Media sites tend to help in lowering the
self-esteem of teens because they only see what is the ‘perfect’
type of person and their ambitions end up being to physically look
as good as this or that person and become more popular.
SWITCH OFF is a government organisation that is used to promote
to teens, specifically 14 to 16 year olds, that they should spend less
time on their devices and more time in the real world, enjoying life
as it is and not as you believe it should be because of what the
Media and the Internet is feeding into your minds. Their message is
to encourage young people to participate in more activities away
from their devices. What they hope to achieve is that over the
months and years, teenagers and older children will proceed to
stop spending so much time on their Mobile Phones and Laptops
and iPads and just enjoy what the world has to offer outside of the
Internet as well as spending their free time learning new things.
14 to 16 are the years of GCSE’s so also to spend more time revising
to get good grades.

7. Part 5: 3 Ideas
Idea 1:
An interview of Celebrities who have had their mental health impacted by Social Media or who have been affected in general by Social Media.
Idea 2:
A teenage boy sits in his room trying to revise for his exams, his phone keeps beeping and eventually he picks it up- it flashes to points throughout his life, he fails
his GCSE’s, gets a terrible job, isn’t able to look after his family, etc… It then flashes back to him sitting in his room, he puts his phone back down and turns it off.
Idea 3:
A group of young adults who have previously done bad in their exams because of Social Media and their devices being a huge distraction- they talk about how
it’s better to spend less time on your phone and more time in school and at home revising, also saying how GCSE’s are very important for your future career/s.
I have decided to go with idea 2, although celebrities are more likely to catch the attention of teenagers, I think this idea is definitely more realistic and people
will understand it, they will know that what is shown in the video will probably happen to them too if they don’t do too well in school.
Target Audience:
The target audience for this organisation are teenagers between the ages of 14-16 who will soon be sitting their GCSE exams. It is important for
your future that you get good grades, especially in maths and English, or there is a chance you won’t be able to get to live out the career
that you want to.
