8. Central Park is an urban park, located in Manhattan, New
York City. Today, at 840 acres and in the centre of the city,
Central Park is the most visited park within the United States
of America. The park is surrounded by the city, which can be
seen from inside the park. The park was first created in 1857
and now has around 37.5 million visitors every year. The
park is open all year around to the public.
There are many attractions and activities available within
the park for the residents of the city, as well as tourists.
Many of these activities include: boating, swimming, ice-
skating (on Wollman Rink and Lasker Rink), rock climbing
and many other sports, such as cycling, jogging and roller-
skating. Central Park also holds it’s own public theatre
(which opens in summer, free of charge) zoo and aquarium,
which are all popular with visitors.

9. Times Square is a major commercial intersection. It is a
neighbour which is located within Manhattan, at the
junction of Broadway and Seventh Avenue. Times square is
often called the “Crossroads of the World" or “Centre of the
Universe”. Times Square consists of the bright lights of the
Broadway Theatre district, one of the busiest pedestrian
intersections of the world, as well as hundreds of billboard
advertisements and shops.
Times Square is now considered to be the most visited
tourist attraction of the world, bring over 39 million visitors
every year. It is estimated that 330,000 people pass through
and visit Times Square daily. Many of these people include
workers of the local area or tourists from all around the
world.
On New Year’s Eve, thousands of people gather to see the
“New Year’s Eve ball drop” in Times Square, signifying and
celebrating the New Year.

10. 42nd Street is a major crosstown street, located in
Manhattan, New York City. The street is an intersection with
Broadway and Time Square, two other major streets in New
York City. 42nd Street is known as the theatre district of New
York City, as well as the red-light district at times. The street
is home to many of New York's best and most iconic
buildings, such as, the Grand Central Terminal, Times
Square, United Nations, the Port Authority Bus Terminal and
the Chrysler Building. On 42nd street, there are hundreds of
spectacular shows preformed every year, which draw in
many visitors from across the world.

11. The Empire State Building is a 103 story building, located in
mid Manhattan, New York City. The building was built in
1929 and now stands at approximately 1,454 ft. (443.2
metres) high (including the antenna). The Empire State
Building is the location of many broadcasting stations.
For 40 years, from 1931 to 1970, the Empire State Building
was the tallest building in the world. Nevertheless, it is now
the 23rd tallest building in the world and the 4th tallest
building in the United States of America.
Every year, around 110 million visitors pay to visit the
observation deck of the Empire State Building. The
observation decks, located on the 86th and 102nd floors,
provide visitors with spectacular 360 degree views of the
city.

12. Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest suspension bridges
within the United States. It is located in New York and
connects the borough of Manhattan and Brooklyn over the
East River. The bridge was the first steel-wired suspension
bridges and stretches over the river at a length of 1,595.5
feet (486.3 metres). There is a pathway and bike path for
pedestrians across the top of the bridge, while vehicles are
able to cross the bridge below. There are spectacular views
from across the bridge of the East River, Brooklyn and
Manhattan.

13. The Statue of liberty is an iconic sculptor, located on Liberty
island, New York. The statue is a gift from the people of
France and represents Libertas, the Roman Goddess of
Freedom. Due to this, the statue symbolises freedom (a
welcoming signal to immigrants arriving from abroad). At
151 feet and 1 inch high, the statue gains a visitation of 3.2
million people every year. Liberty Island and the statue are
free to visit. Nevertheless, victors must may for a ferry ticket
to visit the island. When visiting the statue, visitors can buy
a special ticket (must be booked a year in advance), allowing
them to ascend inside the statue.
