Online Reputation Management is the
process of managing the information that
appears when people search for you online.
Online reputation management is important
for clinicians because:

Patients may to
determine whether
they should choose
you as their physician
based on the
information they find

Personal information
posted online can inform
how colleagues respond
to you in-person

Tips to maintain a Healthy Online Reputation.
Review your privacy settings. If you use Facebook, Twitter or other
social networks for personal use, make sure your privacy settings
reflect this. But, keep in mind, your “friends” can share your content.
The only fool-proof way to ensure a post doesn’t get shared, is to not
share it in the first place!
Google yourself. The easiest way to see what others see when they
search you is to search yourself! If you see any posts you want to
disappear, some sites may retract information, but don’t count on it.
The best assumption is that information posted on the web stays on
the web. So, the best way to counter the unsightly content is to post
quality content.
Take a proactive approach. Provide intellectual commentary on
public blogs and web sites. While this won’t erase any previous public
content, it will dilute the content mix and create a more balanced
online profile that will steer your online reputation into a more
positive direction.
