2. THE COLD WAR DEFINED
“‘Often Cold War A state of political tension and military rivalry
between nations that stops short of full-scale war.’ The cold war
we are studying about is between the U.S. and the U.S.S.R.
3. YALTA AND POTSDAM
The Yalta and Potsdam conferences were time when the big
three’ (Stalin,Churchill, and Roosevelt) would gather together
and talk about what they would do about Germany.
Both meetings took place in 1945.
4. THE TRUMAN DOCTRINE
The truman doctrine offered support to all countries that
declined communism, attempting to contain it, and end it. The
Truman Doctrine also consisted of the Marshall Plan, which was
money that was offered to all European countries for
rebuilding. The Soviets declined the capitalist’ money.
5. THE BERLIN WALL
1961
The berlin wall was put up in order to keep East and West
Berlin separate. The Berlin Aircraft was a special trip made to
drop off food and supplies to East Berlin that was terribly poor
and staving. The Iron Curtain was a political wall between the
Democratic and commune society.
6. MAO ZEDONG
He was a Communist ruler of China who introduced the “Great
Leap Forward” the Chinese form of Communism at the time. The
Great Leap Forward was mass mobilisation of labour to improve
agricultural and industrial production. He also created the “Cultural
Revolution” in 1966 which aimed to ‘cleanse’ of impure elements
and established to revive the revolutionary spirits?

8. SPACE/ ARMS RACE
After the cold war the US. and the USSR were at competition-
in EVERYTHING.
The space race was a race for first country to
“claim” space.
The Nuclear Arms race was between the US. and
the USSR. It was when both countries built up there
nuclear weapons and threatened one another..
9. KOREAN WAR
The Korean war in
1950-1953 and was fought
between the US. North and
South Korea. This war left
Korea economically and
socially damaged from the
rest of the world.
The 38th Parallel marked the
very beginning of the Korean
war.
10. VIETNAM
The Vietnam War was fought
between North and South
Vietnam.
Containment took a major roll in
the Vietnam War. The Us. entered
and fought because of their quest
to contain North Vietnam.
