Need to include the goals and the outcomes in the program – flesh these goals out in more detail for participants.
Day 1 Breakouts Q: pull some of the scientist participants into the governance structure
Do we need to have Eva open?
Roger – to bring this back to the sciences; how EC is helping the sciences. Strategic scientific research areas that research could provide. Strategic report by the Geosciences Committee. Planning to bring this back to the sciences.
Ooooooppppssss – Deep Dive.
Clarify the role that the end-user could have in the feedback loop – how will I gain from attending this beyond general awareness? Science Committee that’s part of the structure – what is the impact on scientists, the big questions?
Early career – these are the folks that (3 years to work on the dissertation), perhaps EarthCube can provide the dissertation talk. CI people can move this forward. Digital literates – talking CI to them is sometimes, need to make it useful to them. Challenge is to give them something useful to talk about? ******* Scenario testing: early career, proposed research and challenges faced; see if the governance framework/technologies are going to face this. (How do we build this into the scenario testing) ******* Potential alternative – tenure track, bringing in money, these folks are more hesitant to take risks – should talk to late career people who have struggled with these issues. ****Recognizing the structures that already support end-user scientists, reaching out to a broader range of scientists. Partnering with emerging fields of science, where there aren’t as strict social rules. Bioinformatics offshoots are critical. Interdisciplinnary work.
Dating Game/Icebreaker
Will the AHOC be a lead for this? Having some structure may give us a better outcome.
Reach out to NRL – Brooks & Alex to provide additional information.
