Building Digital Bridges: A Special Intrest Group in Digital Learning of the ESAI Authors Dr. Eamon Costello (DCU) Dr. Enda Donlon (Mater Dei Institute of Education) Dr. Tom Farrelly (Tralee Insitute of Technology) Prof. Mark Brown (Dublin City University) Abstract This presentation introduces a Special Interest Group on Digital Learning of the Education Studies Association of Ireland. The aim of the group is to foster and support a community of practitioners and researchers engaged in research in Digital Learning. Digital technology is now part of the fabric of our world and grappling with the challenges and opportunities it continually presents for education encompasses an expansive research agenda. Several networks and groupings (both informal and formal) exist in Ireland with a focus on digital learning. This Special Interest Group seeks to build upon these networks and connect them to the EASI community to enhance their research capacity. The group will have an inclusive remit to encourage and promote scholarly activity amongst not just established researchers but also students, learning technologists, teachers and trainers
