Purpose and contribution to the field
o Audience takeaways

– Modes and methodologies
– Education, US? Yes!
– Education, Canada? Yes!
– UK? Yes!
– Researchers, Europe? Yes!
Something you are really inquisitive about
Something you would like to solve once and for all
Something you are doing now and would like to challenge
Something you think could be done better
What do you LOVE!
A tweet that made you furious
A LinkedIn discussion you can prove
A Facebook comment you can refute
Your research passion project!
Submitting the Synopsis
Keep it simple
Have something new or different to say
Link it with the conference theme
Out line the problem and how you are going to solve it
Think about the reviewers…they don’t want to read 50 pages
Give it a fun title
Make it interesting, engage your reviewer
Ultimately you need to convince the committee that you have
something new to say, and that you will say it well!
Needs to be brief
• • Specific
Needs to be interesting
Needs to convince the committee that you have something to say
Needs to convince the committee the presentation will be great!
This years AMSRS committee have simplified the form, see link here:
o Speak to the audience
o Teach the audience
o Lecture at the audience
o Relax with the audience
o Interact with the audience
o Tell a story (an interesting one!)
Don’t be this guy
“Your proposal was
excellent but due to the
high volume of
submissions, we regret
to inform you…”
Please submit to 3 other conferences
Turn it into a webinar
Turn it into 2 white papers
Turn it into 4 blog posts
Special thanks again to…
