Slides from a webinar presented Sept 14 2017 by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Worldwide. The webinar covered how to become a commercial pilot and featured panels from ERAU, Nashville Flight Training, AOPA, and ExpressJet.
4. Dr. Ken Byrnes
Associate Professor of Aeronautical Science
Department Chair of Flight
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach
5. ERAU Daytona Beach Flight Program
“Turning people with a passion for aviation into the best pilots in the air”
• 60 high-end training aircraft (Diamond DA42 L-360, Cessna 172 Skyhawk, Piper
Arrow, American Champion Super Decathlon 8KCAB)
• Banks of simulators (Full Flight and Flight Training Devices)
• 150 Flight Instructors/25 Technicians maintaining fleet
• Part of a B.S. in Aeronautical Science degree program
6. Flight Ratings
• Multiengine Flight Track
This option takes the student from single-engine private to multiengine private to
maximize the amount of multiengine "pilot-in-command" time.
• Single-Multi Flight Track
This track also results in a multiengine commercial license but focuses on obtaining the
single-engine commercial license first. This way, the student may obtain
a Certificated Flight Instructor (CFI) rating sooner and join the Embry-Riddle instructor
team.
• FastTrack Certificated Flight Instructor/Instrument Instructor (CFI/II)
This special program offered every summer allows selected students to obtain
their Certificated Flight Instructor (CFI) and Instrument Instructor (II) ratings in the
summer of their sophomore or junior year. Each of these students is guaranteed an
interview with the Embry-Riddle Flight Department, and nearly all are hired.
