Welcome to the 15th
Annual Essex Fall Tune-Up Soccer Tournament! This event is co-sponsored by
the joint efforts of the Livingston and West Orange Soccer Clubs. Our goals are simple: Use this
weekend to prepare for the upcoming Fall 2015 soccer season and HAVE FUN!

that organization was Cycle For Survival. This year the Tournament Committee has chosen Puppies
Behind Bars. We will be conducting a fund-raising raffle for four (4) Adidas gift card packages of $250
each, two (2) sets of four (4) tickets each to a 2016 New York Red Bulls home match, and two (2)
sets of two (2) lower bowl tickets each to a 2016 New Jersey Devils home game. In addition to a
direct contribution from the Tournament, 10% of all proceeds of the raffle will be donated to this
important organization trains prison inmates to raise service dogs for wounded war veterans and
explosive detection canines for law enforcement.

2016 Tournament Rules:
1. LARGE-SIDED: U13 - U15 (11 v 11) will play three (3) 50-minute games (25-minute halves) with a 3-
minute half-time.
2. SMALL-SIDED: U8 - U10 (7 v 7) and U11 - U12 (9 v 9) will play three (3) 50-minute games (25-minute
halves) with a 3-minute half-time.
3. SMALL-SIDED: U6 – U8 (4 v 4) will play four (4) 20-minute running time games.
4. U13 – U15 Large-Sided teams will be in a standard playoff format.
5. U11 – U12 Small-Sided teams will be in standard playoff format.
6. For Large-Sided games only, in the event of a tie game FIFA penalty kicks will be taken with the following
exception: Any player on the Tournament roster is eligible to take part in the shootout, not just those players
on the field at the end of the game. A separate field (THE PENALTY PIT) will be used for shootouts.
7. For all Small-Sided games, in the event of a tie game, the score will remain a tie.
8. For Small-Sided U11 and U12 FINAL games only, in the event of a tie game FIFA penalty kicks will be
taken with the following exception: Any player on the Tournament roster is eligible to take part in the
shootout, not just those players on the field at the end of the game.
9. For Small-Sided U6 – U10 scores will not be posted and standings will not be kept.
10. U8 – U15: Maximum allowed goal differential in any game is six (6) goals.
11. U8 – U15: Substitutions will be allowed on goal kicks, your own throw in, the attacking team’s throw-in
providing they are substituting, after goals, and at half-time.
12. U6 – U8: Substitutions will be allowed at any time including during play.
13. No protests are allowed. The decision of the referee is final.
14. All penalties and misconducts are according to FIFA Law XII and NJYSA
(http://www.njyouthsoccer.com/) State Cup rules.
15. No guest players are allowed. The offending player will not be allowed to play in their next regularly
scheduled Tournament game. The offending coach will receive a Yellow Card.
16. No secondary passes are allowed.
17. No added injury time.
18. Teams from outside the state of New Jersey must have a copy of “Permission to Travel Form” approved
and signed by a USSF Representative.
19. No Golf Carts are allowed.
20. No Pets are allowed at ANY field per Livingston & West Orange town ordinances.

Tournament Cancellation:
Our fields have excellent drainage. The Tournament will be played through almost all weather conditions. In
the unlikely event that any games need to be cancelled, for whatever reason, there are no provisions for
making up games. If the Tournament is cancelled for any reason 80% of the registration fee will be refunded.
Tournament Format – Large-Sided and U11 & U12 Small-Sided:
1. After Tournament play, the following format will be used for Playoffs:
A. Finals 1 vs. 2.
B. Flights with 5 teams; 1st and 2nd will be based on points, teams in these flights will play 4 games.
C. Teams will be awarded 3 points for a win.
D. Large-Sided tied matches will be decided by penalty kicks. The winning team will receive 3 points
for the win and the losing team will receive 1 point for the tied match.
E. Small-Sided winning team receives 3 points. In the event of a tie both teams will receive 1 point.
There is no penalty shootout for Small-Sided games except in the Final.
2. Tie Breaker Format:
A. Head-to-Head competition (in the event of a two-way tie see #3 below).
B. Total goals against (least).
C. Total goals scored (maximum five (5) goals per game).
D. Total goal differential (maximum (5) goals per game (G.F. minus G.A.)).

Tournament Conduct:
1. Smoking is not allowed at any field location.
2. No Pets are allowed at ANY field per Livingston & West Orange town ordinances.
3. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted at any field location.
4. Players, coaches, and spectators are expected to conduct themselves within the spirit of the law as well
as the letter of the law. Display of offensive language, temper, or dissent is cause for ejection from the game
and field of play. Coaches shall be held responsible for the conduct of all persons on their team and those
supporting the team.
5. Each team shall share the same side of the field while the spectators will occupy the opposite side.
6. The referee only may suspend play or abandon the game. If the referee abandons the game due to
misconduct by players, coaches, or spectators on one team, a victory will be awarded to the opposing team
with the score being 1-0.
7. Players, coaches, and team officials ejected from a game by the referee shall be automatically suspended
for the following game and, depending on the violation, may be suspended for more games as determined by
the Tournament Committee.
