Mass airflow sensor (MAF) sits between the air filter and intake manifold of the engine. It calculates the mass of air that enters the engine and feeds that data to the engine control module. The ECU uses this data to stabilize the air-fuel ratio within the combustion chamber of the engine. Inaccurate data provided by a bad MAF sensor can cause engine seizure in your BMW x5.
