1. Canon – Evaluation
In this project, I have learned some skills from doing print adverts. These skills
include Professional Practise, Problem Solving and Technical Skill. I have made
a magazine cover and a print advert for Canon.
I am very happy with these pieces of product that I have made. I did some
research into the client and previous products and both gave me some ideas
for my project. One of print advert that was designed by Canon helped me
massively with my idea as it showed that nothing is impossible and it showed a
bit of a journey.
2. After completing my research, I got some audience research where I gathered
more information about my audience. One of the significant graphs that were
on my form was how much the audience use a camera. The majority did not
regularly so this gave me an idea to promote their cameras and encourage
people to use one of their cameras.
After this audience research, I did a focus group to get more of an insight of my
audience and then after this, I created my pitch and then presented it to
others. My pitch included research, audience research and my ideas.
After all this was done, I started pre-production and started creating my flat
plan for my designs and getting all of the forms and other resources I needed
ready for the production phase of my project.
For my production, I went to Newcastle and got some photos that I can use for
my project. I took a few photographs and when I got back home, I chose the
best ones which I could use for my project.
If I were to do this project again, I would get more photographs so I have more
of a variety of photos to choose from.
In post-production, I used Canva to create both the magazine cover and print
cover. I gathered the images I needed and uploaded them to the Canva
software. After this, I then made a draft magazine cover and print advert by
adding some shapes onto the magazine cover and some text with it too. For
my print advert, I added some text onto the top with the canon logo at the
bottom.
3. After doing this, I got some feedback from these drafts and a lot of them told
me to make the text not blend in with the picture so in response, I changed the
font and lowered a few things so it would not blend with the picture.
Finally, I came up with a final product which then I got more feedback on my
final product. I did some changes in response to this feedback including adding
a bit of more information about Canon. I added some features that a Canon
camera has to the text at the bottom to show what the camera can do.
For my magazine cover, some responses said the text still blended in so I
changed the font colour and moved everything and made the font bigger so it
would be easier to see.
After making these amendmants, my final product was created and
and got my final product that was finished.
I feel like I have met the requirements of the brief because I have promoted a
journey by showing the metro in my print advert and I have promoted their
cameras too in my print and magazine cover.
If I were to do this project again, I would do more research and get more
photographs as said before. I have learnt some essential graphic design skills
and different tools which I could use for a print advert again in the future.
