8. Surveys of Study Site
Extensive and field surveys were conducted
in different villages of the Jaunsar area during
2010 to 2015.
Information on plants used for different
ethno-medicinal purposes was collected by
field observations and discussions with
elderly people of the local tribal
communities. The elders of the several
communities, the local herbal doctors
(Vaidyas) and other knowledgeable people of
the area communicated with the tribal
communities to understand the usages and
vernacular names of plant species.
Extensive literature search was conducted to
verify the name of plants and their ethno-
medicinal importance
9. Significance/Valuable achievements
of the study:
The present study has greater significance towards
the development of healthcare products based on
lesser known potential plants of ethno-medicinal
leads/oral wisdom of Jaunsari tribe.
The study has much importance to enrichment the
Dravyaguna/ Ayurvedic pharmacopoeia and
maintaining continuation to addition of specific and
new plants in Ayurveda.
