Adaptive Learning & Development Skills
The Adaptive Learner
The 4 principles
Instinct
Bases what you feel on what you know
I did this as a child.
I think this will happen.
I need to change before I
change them.
1
The Adaptive Learner
The 4 principles
Taught
Bases on what you were taught in Education
The Textbook say this.
My lecturer said this.
2
The Adaptive Learner
The 4 principles
Modify
Based on what you can change
It’s not the same
situation.
I can do this but I must
change that.
Nothing makes sense
3
The Adaptive Learner
The 4 principles
Develop
Bases what you have changed and the situation your in.
It is similar, but what
elements are different?.
I think this will happen.
What does my bosses
need me to do?
4
The Adaptive Learner
The 5 principle
Next Step
Seeking help and understanding.
Who can I talk to?
Who has the Information
about the situation we’re
in?
How can my team work
on this with me?
5
The Adaptive Learner
The 5 principle
Next Step5
Getting it together is difficult.
Know YOURSELF first
and then

SHORT TERM MEMORIES:
The Human Mind can retain up to (8) EIGHT Things in Short Term
memory, however you only need to keep (3) three things.
Clear your mind of everything else
Ask only one question!
What are the Three Most Important things that constantly change
during my day?
1. What am I working on Today?
2. Where am I involved?
3. Who else needs to be involved?
• During a day WHAT you’re working on will change.
• You always need to remember WHERE you’re involved.
Ownership is important here.
• Solutions or Stop Gap are never one minded. So, always know
WHO else will be involved.
Everything else needs to be in your
IMMEDIATE LONG TERM MEMORY.

3. I am the very Best Learning practitioner on Earth!!!
• Remembering your Strategy tools are vital to understanding Direction &
Causation.
• Knowing as much as you can about CAUSATION & EFFECT is important
Knowing your Industry is super important.

Notas do Editor

  1. Having a Map in Step Mentality is your foundation for Critical Thinking is the first step to understanding Issue Handling through the Convergence of Critical and Creative Thinking
  2. We usually start in a state of not knowing what we don't know, called 'unconscious incompetence'. If we have never done something, probably because we have not needed to or desired to, then we have probably not even considered either the possibility of doing it or how we might do it. When I was a small child I never considered that driving a car was something that I would learn in later life. Driving a car was just something that grown-ups did. However, at the beginning of my first driving lesson, I quickly moved to the next stage of the learning cycle, called 'conscious incompetence'. As the car leapt and weaved its way down the road, the engine stalled and we rolled into the kerb. I became very aware of my own incompetence. I felt very foolish at the time but was determined to learn how to drive. I wanted the freedom that came with having a driving licence. Gradually, as the driving lessons progressed, I moved into stage 3 of the learning cycle, as shown in Figure 2.1. As I recited to myself 'Mirror, signal, manoeuvre', and learnt the technique of easing off the accelerator, depressing the clutch, changing gear and then slowly lifting the clutch while depressing the accelerator I became very conscious of my developing competence - albeit with the occasional and rather embarrassing visit back to stages 1 and 2. During my driving test I was completely absorbed with the techniques and skills I had learnt - it took all of my conscious effort - and I passed. Many years later, and after many miles of driving I have become an unconsciously competent driver. I still sometimes wonder how I know when a car in front of me is going to make that unusual manoeuvre that I seem to have anticipated, how I managed that hill start without reciting my 'script' and how I managed to end up safely at my usual destination without having been aware either of driving the car or of the journey itself.
  3. Most instincts are developed within the first 7 years of your life and further developed over the next 21 years. This means by the age of 28 you have everything you need to get you through your life. They say that morals, beliefs and opinions are enhanced by your development.
  4. Education isn’t just what you learn at school or university but it’s the main area of what you are taught. Have your children come home and said “No daddy, my teacher says this or that.” or “but my teacher told us this….” this is the beginning of the taught mentality, its what happens during your lifetime NO you don’t even need to be school taught. As a child you are taught very quickly that FIRE can burn and it hurts, so you learn not to play with fire and be very careful with it. WHAT IF, you were never taught this could you burn yourself and not feel pain? Some esoterica psychologist believe this to be true, and that you could burn your skin and your pain receptors wouldn’t react.
  5. Belief systems and Moral guidance help us to modify our thought patterns as does society every single day. We are taught that killing is bad but society tells us that killing an enemy is good – So my question is this “ If you are my enemy and I kill you is it a good thing or a bad thing?” Society also tells us who are our enemies and also tells us who can kill them. In business we are told by the company VISION and MISSION who are our enemy (competitor) and that we don’t go killing those that work for the competitor but kill (destroy) the entity, the company through analytical social strikes at their products.
  6. As we move through our lives within the organization we develop methodologies to move the company forward. We sometimes get stuck, this isn’t bad it simply means we are what we are and will not progress in the organization but be the very best we can in what we do. Some develop new methodologies based upon experience ( We all can do this) and through analyzing the past in order to see the future and to sometime see up-coming problems sometimes referred to as JIT Thinking (Just In Time) see a goodly distance into the future is forecasting and there are predictive modelling tools to help.
  7. The NEXT STEP is simple as we can all do it. Take your past – overlay it on the present - see the future with uncertain minds, believing it to be a possibility but can change at any time. Neuro Linguistic Programming can help you here along with many other mentalities, that can do mental prediction. Understanding who you are is the first step, then, understanding those around you, both superiors and subordinates. This is essential as you need to know how people will react to what you propose.
  8. Understand who you are (really) is important. We all say “I know who I am.” but do we really? You are a make-up of many things: Emotional Intelligence. The Intrapersonal you. The Inter-personal you. The Adaptive you. The Stress Manager in you. The General Mood you. Let’s look at these one at a time. You can modify the information to work with others.
  9. Circle the one you think is you.
