Going to
Going to is not a tense. It is a special expression
to talk about the future.
subject + be + going + infinitive
Use of going to
1. Going to with intention:
We use going to when we
have the intention to do
something before we speak.
- He is going to play a
computer game.
2. Going to with prediction:
We often use going to make a
prediction about the future.
Our prediction is based on
present evidence. We are
saying what we think will
happen.
- The sky is very dark. It's going
to rain.
Sara : Hi, Ken. What are you doing after school?
Ken : I’ve got some free time, so I’m going to play
computer games at home.
Sara : Oh, really? I like playing computer games, too.
Ken : Which game do you like best?
Sara : I like Battle Power a lot. It’s really fun.
Ken : Yeah. I love it, too.
Sara : What else do you like playing?
Ken : I enjoy playing Castle Park very much. It’s my
favorite now. It’s pretty new. It’s about flying in a future
city.
Sara : Wow, that sounds great.
Activity !
Directions
1. Make a circle.
2. Pass the balls around the circle until the music
stop.
3. Two students who get the ball after the music
stop have to stand and make a conversation.
Example:
- What are you doing after school?
- Why do you like to do these activities?

Activity 2: Free time activities survey
Directions
1. Divide the class into 6 groups of free time activities.
2. Choose only one free time activity station and join the station
that they like.
3. 20 minutes to share their own ideas about the free time activity
that they have chosen (pros and cons or how to play).
4. Write down the ideas in the paper and prepare for the group
presentation.
