• Led by StreetGames (dedicated to delivering doorstep sport
to young people in disadvantaged communities)

professional football clubs and trusts.
• By April 2013 we aim to have achieved:
• 29,700 participants
• 700 new coaches
• 1,025 volunteers
• 260 peer champions
• 1,260 new qualifications
• 210 events/festivals
4. Aims and
Objectives
• Persuade young women that sport can be for them
• Raise the profile of women in sport
• Make it the norm for women to want to be active
• Share our knowledge and experience to ensure the lessons
we learn are disseminated across the community sport
sporting sector.
5. How we do it
• Offer sport and physical activity
• at the right time, for the right price, in the right place and in the right style
• Young women decide which activities they want. Most popular are
dance, fitness, football, badminton and netball.

The last 6 months of the programme has seen a significant period of research and consultation with project participants, potential participants, project managers and deliverers. The diagram below sets out the research that has been undertaken to date. Insight in to attitudes, barriers, challenges and solutions in relation to engaging and retaining 16-25 year old females from disadvantaged areas in sport and physical activity.
