PowerPivot demand has increased significantly in recent years. As more and more data gets added to SharePoint or other business systems, business users are recognizing the value that PowerPivot has as an analysis tool. SQL Server 2012 and SharePoint 2013 provide a fantastic infrastructure for PowerPivot, but installing and configuring it specifically tailored to your environment can be tricky, depending on your business users' needs. In this session we will walk through an installation of a SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services Instance in SharePoint PowerPivot mode. We will then cover how to install and configure PowerPivot on SharePoint. This includes the configuration options for authentication, data refresh and Excel Services.

- PowerPivot System Service (Mid Tier Service in Health Analyzer Rules)This service hosts the refresh scheduling engine, which calls Excel Services APIs for data refresh of Excel 2013 workbooks. - You must be a local admin on the machine that you are installing Analysis ServicesAnalysis Services server must be joined to a domain. It doesn’t have to be the same domain that you are running SharePoint, but it must be in the same Active Directory forest.There can only be one PowerPivot instance per SQL server.
