The term behavior therapy is applied
psychological treatments based on
experimental psychology and intended to
change symptoms and behavior .It refers to a
particular group of procedures based on
operant conditioning.

3. Definition behavior therapy
• Behavioral therapy is an umbrella term for types
of therapy that treat mental health disorders. This
form of therapy seeks to identify and help
change potentially self-destructive or unhealthy
behaviors. It functions on the idea that all
behaviors are learned and that unhealthy
behaviors can be changed. The focus of treatment
is often on current problems and how to change
them.

It is the systematic application of
scientific principles of learning and
a form of psychotherapy ,aims at
changing maladaptive behavior by
substituting it with adaptive
behavior.
