Open PowerPoint
Click themes
Click Master views
The left hand ‘Slide View’ panel will
change to ‘Master View’
Each of the slides in this column will be
individual master slides. You are given
sample slides or you can delete and
make your own.

All amends you make on the first slide
will appear on all other master templates
in this document.
Click the first
slide. Make sure
you scroll all the
way to the top.
Saving you time when building other
templates. Best place to add the
following:
- Logo
- Footnotes
- Any images you want on every slide

Highlight text
you wish to
format
Start by editing your font
Edit the font style, size, colour
Don’t forget this will be the standard for
every slide.
(You can change slides in additional
master slides)

Adding a logo to every slide is easy.
Click insert from the top menu
Click object and browse
Position logo on the slide

You can add shapes to the master slides
to decorate your master slides
Make sure you are still in the ‘master
view’ ribbon
Choose ‘shape’
Position your shape.
I have chosen a line to create a
shadowed border.

with a different
background?
Click the page
you want
to edit in
‘Master View’
Open a new ‘slide’ in slide master view
or click on the one you want to edit.
Add a new background to it.
Click on fonts
Choose font

You can add shapes, text placeholders,
images etc to the master slides to
decorate your title page.
7. PowerPoint Master slides

I need to add a
slide?
Click in
grey space
Right click and
choose
‘new layout’
Click in the grey area where you want to
position the new slide.
Right click
Choose ‘New Layout’
It will open a new slide with your
background, logo, and font styles.
Don’t forget you need to be in
‘Slide Master View’

Top tip: I use the ‘Content’ placeholder
which pretty much incorporates most
things you need from text to images,
