- Tight budgets, new innovative programs, improve collection – student needs are still there
- There tend to be trends within grants – these are the current ones. One key is finding how these trends can be incorporated into what you want to do.
- Take 30 seconds to write down three things that would be in your dream library. What are they?
- First step is to find a grant – these are some good ways of searching. Get Ed Funding is awesome – create an account, search for grants and save them to your wishlists – get updates about what deadlines are coming up. Sign up for their newsletter. Lots of resources for grant writing – including free webinars
- DEMCO free grants search – requires you to sign up with e-mail. Lots of grants focused on libraries and education. Not quite as easy to search – have to dig a bit. But good stuff to be found. Link will be posted in Edmodo.
- Monthly newsletter with library focused grants. Great way to keep up to date on current grants and contests w/o getting overwhelmed
- Edutopia’s grants and resources page – information on grants that are available, plus resources to help you write them
- Found a grant? Now it’s time to figure out that grant proposal. Before you do anything, try to be a grant reader. This will help you to see what works.
- Great way to get supplies for your library. Just try not to ask for 20 iPads.
