2. What is an article?
These are words that define a
noun as specific or unspecific.
There are two types Definite and
Indefinite.

3. Definite article
 Definite article: “The”.
 It can be used with singular and plural nouns.

4. Examples:
SINGULAR
• I heard it on the radio.
• You can play the guitar.
o PLURAL
o She has the tickets.
o The sharks.

5. Indefinite article
 The indefinite article takes two forms:
 We use a before words that begin with a consonant sound.
 We use an before words that begin with a vowel sound.
 NOTE: We ONLY use them with singular nouns ( 1/ an apple).

6. Examples: a
 a restaurant
 a part-time job
 a uniform (y sound)

7. Examples: an
 an architect.
 an automovile.
 an hour. (we don’t pronounce the h)
