2. WHAT IS BIOLOGICAL AGING PROCESS ?
- Aging, progressive physiological changes in an organism that lead to
senescence, or a decline of biological functions and of the organism's ability to
adapt to metabolic stress.
- Some doctors defined that we have three types of ageing : Genetic ageing
,environmental ageing and hormonal ageing ,each of which can cause fine lines
wrinkles and loss of firmness. Genetic agening is fact of life and is the normal
ageing process, genetic playing a big role.
3. Theories of biological aging
– We have different theories on aging. Some of them are
– Free redical theory
– Wear and tear theory
– Rate of living theory
4. Free radical theory
– In 1945 dr. Denham harman proposed this theory and postulated that free
radicals build up in the body and cause cellular damage which lead to aging
process.
– And in our body we also have antioxidants which are known as good health, and
neutralize this free radicals.
– This free radicals are unstable molecules and characterized by unpaired of
electron and highly reactive which destroys millions of cells in nearby in order
to replace their missing electron.
5. -when there is unbalance between the free radicals and antioxidants there is oxidative stress on the cells.

7. IN MITCHONDRIAL FREE RADICAL THEORY OF AGING
PROVES THAT INCREASE IN THE FREE RADICAL CAUSES
OXIDATIVE DAMAGE WHICH CAUSES MUTATIONS
WHICH SHOWS ACCELERATED AGING.
THEREFORE INCREASE IN THE CONCENTRATION OF FREE
RADICLES CAUSES DECREASED LIFE SPAN.
BUT LATER SCIENTIST DISCOVERED THAT FREE RADICLES
DOES CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE MITOCHINDRIAL DNA
AND IT IS NO WAY REALTED TO THE LIFE SPAN.
THE REASON WE GET AGED BECAUSE OF TELOMERES
DEGRADATION WHICH HAVE PREVENT DEGRADATION
OR FUSION WITH NEARBY CHROMOSOMES.
AFTER EACH CYCLE OF CELL DIVISION SMALL PORTIONS
OF DNA IS LOST WHEN THEY REACH CRITICAL LIMIT
THEY UNDER GO APOPTOSIS.
8. WEAR AND TEAR THEORY OF
AGING
– The wear and tear theory of aging one of several theories of asserets that the
effects of aging are caused by progressive damage to cells and body systems
over time by dietary toxins and environmental agents in considering the
different theories of aging the wear and tear theory may at first apppear to be
the most reasonable.
