Missionstatement: To serve asa leader,live abalancedlife,andapplyethical principlestomake a
significantdifference;touse mygiftsof intelligence,charisma,andserial optimism tocultivatethe self-
worthand net-worthof everyonearoundthe world. The personal missionstatementwasimportantfor
me because I believe thatyoucan’tleadothersunlessyouhave astrong sense of whoyouare.Being
able to showandexplainwhathat youstand for isthe keyto my mission.Forme,livingabalancedlife
meansnurturingthe academic,physical,andspiritualaspectsof mylife soIcan maintaina sense of
well-beingandself-esteem.
Visionstatement:I want to be able to lookmyself inthe mirrorandsay “Derekyoudidit youhave been
able to geta job worka full yearand not getfiredandon topof all of that youwere able topass and
almostcomplete yourCPA,Ibelieve inyou,accomplishingthese goalswill be hardbutwithmydiligent
leadershiphabitpractice Iwill succeed.”
Valuesstatement:A scout istrustworthy,loyal,helpful,friendly,curious,kind,thrifty,brave,cleanand
reverent.Iholdmyself tothese standardsmyentire life because Iwill never forgetwhatBoyScouts
taught me. I try to lookthroughthe worldwiththose twelve virtuesguidingme onmypath.
Ethics statement: I holdthateverypersononthisplanetisequal anddeserve the tighttolive inpeace
and happiness.Iwill be damnedif anyonetakesthatawayfromotherswhile Isitback anddo nothing.I
lookforwardto gettingintoconversations withunethical peopletoargue pre-say;butto hopefullyturn
theirownpersonal insecuritiesaround.Ethics are nevercutand dry there will alwaysbe timeswhere in
decisionandtoughchoiceswill needtobe made.Butknowingthisis half the battle.
Strengths statement:INPUT,COMMUNICATION,IDEATION,INDIVIDUALIZATION,LEARNER
My 5 strengthsspeakallotaboutwhoI am. A go getter,I am not afraidof much whenitcomesto
responsibilitiesorcommitment.WhatIwill use mystrengthsmostlyinwill be mycareerinthe
corporate world. Thiscareerpath requirescleancommunicationskillsandbeingable toworkwith
others,inputwill be extremelyvaluable.
OperatingGoals: three personal goalsinclude:gettingmymile itme backto 5:30, beingable to
financial supportmyself andgettingagirlfriendthatwon’tbe a badpersonlike the lastones.My three
professionalgoalswouldbe earningmyCPA within2018, hopefullypartnerin5 yearsand one daymy
ownbranch.
Leader Character Habits Strategy: I will needall fiveof mystrengths butIthinkbeingpersonal engaged
will be boundless formycareerthat isall about relationshipsandbuildingtrustwithotherpeople. If I
am able to utilize the giftsof othersandmyself I know thatbeingpersonallyengagedwill helpme
become a superioremploy;especiallywhenitcomestocompletingprojectsthatrequire a durable
understandingof mygroup member’s abilities.
Obstacles: my dyslexiaforsure will be a one thingthat has alwaysbeenhardforme to fix Iam
constantlyremindedof myfailures.Sothatandmy abilitytogetaddictedtovideogamesIneedto
breakmyself of thatbad habit.That will be myfocusthissummeristo stopall videogames.
Reflectionand assessment:Ithinkat leastonce a weeka reflectionperiodshould be takenif notmaybe
one small one eachmorning.Usedto settingthe daysactivatesorplanningouta large eventto-dolistis
keyto makingsure itgoesoff withoutto manyhiccups.

problemsgave me the chance to reflectonmy own life afterreadingjustachapter. Otherleadership

requiresahighdegree of leadershiptoachieve. BeyondthatI am sure there will be some conference
on leadershipcomingupinthe next yearor twofrom work.If I wouldchoose a leader,LewisandClark,
theyremindme allotof whatit feelsliketobe inthe woodsagainsurvivingnothavingtoworry about
taxes,stocksor laws.One dayI will follow intheirfootstepsandexploreawildernesssomeday.Their
traitsor courage and personal engagementintheirpartywaskeyto theirsuccessand knowingexactly
whattheycouldachieve.
