4. Cupressus torulosa
Introduction
The botanical name of the Agar Dhupi is
Cupressus torulosa, which lies in
Crussaceae family. It is commonly known
as Himalayan Cypress or Bhutan Cypress.
It is an evergreen conifer tree species
which is found on the limestone terrain in
the western Himalaya from 300-2800m.

7. Uses of Cupressus torulosa
 Edible: not known
 Medicinal: The essential oil obtained from the plant
is antiseptic. It is used to cure inflammatory
wounds.
 Agroforestry: The tree is sometimes planted as a
windbreak. This contradicts a report that the tree is
subject to injury by the wind.
 Fuel: the wood is used for the fuel.
 Other uses: The wood is aromatic, especially the
root-wood, and an essential oil extracted from
these parts is used in cosmetics. The plant is burnt
as an incense. The leaves are used.
