3. WHAT IS FEMINISM?
Feminism is a collection of movements and
ideologies that share a common goal: to define,
establish, and achieve equal political, economic,
cultural, personal, and social rights for
women. This includes seeking to establish equal
opportunities for women in education and
employment. A feminist advocates or supports
the rights and equality of women.

7. HOW MALES ARE DOMINATING SOCITEY
Females are often treated as a slave and are restricted to share
own views and advise in all kind of occasions, expenses and
planning, they are sometimes considered to be inferior and unable to
indulge in such activities.
Giving birth to male child often makes a family proud and female
ashame and in some cases mothers are advised to go for abortion as
well.
Females are also restricted to choose life partner, wear dresses of
own choice and decide own future because of male dominating
society.
Males sometimes pass lewd comments and stare so blatantly to
females as they don’t have liberty to step out everywhere not only at
night but in day as well. And they also fail to achieve as respect as a
man despite having callibre,passion and proficiency.
8. INDIAN GOVERNMENT RULES AND RIGHTS
The principle of gender equality is enshrined in the Indian Constitution in its
Preamble, Fundamental Rights, Fundamental Duties and Directive Principles.
The Constitution not only grants equality to women, but also empowers the
State to adopt measures of positive discrimination in favour of women.
Constitutional Privileges
(i) Equality before law for women (Article 14)
(ii) The State to make any special provision in favour of women and children (Article 15 (3))
(iii) The State to direct its policy towards securing for men and women equally the right to an
adequate means of livelihood (Article 39(a)); and equal pay for equal work for both men and
women (Article 39(d))
(iv) Not less than one-third (including the number of seats reserved for women belonging to
the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes) of the total number of seats to be filled by
direct election in every Municipality to be reserved for women and such seats to be allotted by
rotation to different constituencies in a Municipality (Article 243 T (3))

Women are given reservation in various field like Education, Sports,
Government etc when we are talking about the equality in society.
Government has reserved 33% of seats for Women in Parliament.
NGO’s working for social justice for women are now asking for more than
40% reservation under the “Women Reservation Bill 2009”.
There are number of girls college and university are opened by
government in which no male gets admission if seats remain vacant.
Andhra Government resaved 33.33% of seats for women in
Government job and Bihar government resaved 35% seats in Police for
women.

13. MISUSE OF RIGHTS
i. Women misuse rape law to force lovers to marry them: Court
IANS May 25, 2013
Penal provisions on rape have been misused by some women who develop
consensual physical relationship with their lovers and after the breakup file false rape
cases to force them to marry them, the Delhi High Court has said. Justice Kailash
Gambhir said rape law was often misused by women as weapon for "vengeance and
vendetta" to harass and blackmail their male friends by filing false cases to extort
money and to force them to marry them.
