The student used various digital technologies to construct, research, and plan their project. They used iMovie to edit footage from their camera into a trailer, arranging shots and adding music and effects. They also used a Canon camera to film footage for the trailer. For research, they used the internet to explore horror genres, locations, costumes, and trailer conventions. They shared their work-in-progress on Edublogs, uploading YouTube clips and discussing trailers. Garageband was used to create original music for the trailer. A Canon stills camera captured photos for the poster and magazine. Photoshop allowed them to design the poster and magazine, adding photos, text, and adjusting colors.

New question 4
1. QUESTION 4
How have you used digital technology in the construction,
research and planning of your project?
2. One of the main technologies that I used was iMovie. This is a programme on the Mac
where I edited my trailer, Rose. Firstly, I imported the raw footage from my camera
onto iMovie. I then arranged the shots that were taken into chronological order, I then
edited the shots down to the correct length. After I had all of my shots in place, I
focused on continuity, so the trailer looked professional, I then added in the music
that was produced on Garageband by a member of my group. With the music, I added
in sound effects, which were either created by me or downloaded. My choice and use
of the audio gave the trailer a more effective touch. With the music, it has to be
edited to fit with the flow of the shots, so a shot should change in time with the
music. Also, I took out a small part of the soundtrack where I wanted there to be
silence, and this was a good effect to have in as it created tension. Once the sound
was imported, I edited the colour of each shot to make them look authentic, and
reflective of the horror genre.

3. The main piece of technology that was used during our time filming, was the camera.
This camera is a Canon which I purchased myself to produce the project. This camera
was used everyday of filming, it is very good quality, and helped us record the whole
of the trailer. This was an obvious choice to make, as it was perfect for what we
wanted it to do.
Videocamera
4. In my research and planning I used the internet a lot to research anything about the
horror genre, locations, costume and trailers.
I used the internet to explore horror movies and to establish any unfamiliar
conventions that I could use. I also searched for trailer conventions. Like the horror
conventions, I already had an idea of some, but I wanted to find out more to make the
trailer more interesting.
Internet
5. Edublogs is an online site where we were able to upload blog posts about the work
we have been doing, and any final work that we have completed. Throughout the
research and planning when I was researching about the current trailer market, I was
able to upload and embed YouTube clips of the trailers and then talk about them, and
say what makes them a trailer. I also did the same with horror film trailers, and I
talked about the conventions of a horror trailer, which helped me to produce my
horror trailer. The progress that I made with Rose, was uploaded each time I edited
parts of it, so at the end, I can see the progress of the trailer and how it has
developed.
6. With another member of our group, I focussed on making the music for our trailer. On
Garageband, we experimented with the different instruments that were available to
us. On the internet before this, I researched many different horror trailers, to find out
how the music is construct and the typical sounds that are heard. After this, we then
went over to Garageband to start making the music. As I was part of researching the
sounds for this, I am very happy with the way the music turned out.

7. For our poster and magazine, we had to include a main image on there to make them
look more authentic. To do this, we took the pictures ourselves. To take the pictures, I
used a Canon stills camera. This camera is very good quality and helped make the
images look professional on the magazine and poster.
Stills Camera
8. One of the final pieces of software that I used was Photoshop. This was to produce
the poster and magazine for out trailer. Firstly, I had to crop around the pictures that
we used, then add them onto the page. Then I chose a background to use, which was
very simple, then I added on the text, edited that to the size and font I wanted, then
moved them to where I wanted them, then it was pretty much done. All I had to do
then, was adjust the colouring of the images to make them fit onto the poster and
magazine. Once they were both done, I then exported them as images, and uploaded
them onto my blog.
Photoshop
9. To conclude, I believe that each piece of technology we used helped so much when we
were producing each product. Each one we used made our project even more effective.
I am very happy with how our trailer, poster and magazine turned out, thanks to the
hard work of each member of the group and the technology that we used.
