- 50% of Helsinki Stock Exchange turnover comes from the companies based in Espoo, such as KONE. KONE, an innovative leader in the elevator and escalator industry, is one of the most successful Finnish companies ever. This picture demonstrates their new high-rise elevator technology, launched in June, that is set to break industry limits and enable future elevator travel heights of 1 kilometer - twice the distance currently feasible. The KONE UltraRope(TM) is a completely new hoisting technology that eliminates the disadvantages of conventional steel rope and opens up a world of possibilities in high-rise building design - an important consideration as urbanization brings increasing numbers of people to cities. Over 51% of city residents hold a university degree. All this located in the area of 4 square kilometres. Espoo is a city of families - 20 % of inhabitants are under 15 years old.
