40th Anniversary of the All-Volunteer Force
The US is engaged in the longest war
in our history.
Only 1% of our
population has served
since 9/11.
21% of the
population served
during WWII.
In the 1980s 60% of
CEOs were veterans.
Today they are less
than 10%.
Who recognizes the value of veterans?
Many face unemployment or take jobs
where they are under employed.
Every year 200,000 service members
leave the military.
What’s the incentive to serve?

Meet Your Military
Only 3 in 10 American youth meet the
minimum eligibility requirements to join
the military.
Since 1983 over 90% of military
recruits are high school graduates.
The national average in 2012 was an
all time high of 80%.
Approximately 80% of jobs in the
military are non-combat roles.
In our country’s history there has
never been a coup d'etat
The National Leadership Index, prepared annually by the Harvard Kennedy School’s Center for Public Leadership, found
Americans surveyed nationwide had “above-average confidence” only in the military and medical sectors.
The 2012 index was the eighth year in a row in which the military won the top spot over 13 other fields.
The American people trust the military!

More Government is not
the solution.
Veteran issues fall under 7
different agencies.
Veterans Administration
Departments of Defense
Department of Labor
Department of Education
Department of Housing and Urban Development
Small Business Administration
Social Security Administration
There are already 1,300 federal and
state policies, laws and executive
orders affecting veterans
These include:
• 100 different policies on education,
• 100+ on employment,
• more than 100 on health,
• and nearly 400 on compensation.
PTSD has impacted veterans of all wars,
we just did not understand it.
World War II veterans had others to turn to
in class and at work.
88% of veterans drop out of school when
there are no veteran support programs
95% of veterans complete school where
veteran programs exist
On average 22 veterans commit suicide
each day.
Veteran suicide has been an issue since
the end of World War II.
WWII veteran suicide rate is twice as high
as non-veterans their same age.
This is attributed to having nothing and no
one to keep them occupied.
