2. As I was working in a group of people this
evaluation was supposed to be recorded,
but some individuals within the group had
other commitments and were not able to
make the times we had arranged to record
this. This meaning that it would be easier
for everyone just to do their own
evaluation on their own magazine that
they have made.
3. In what ways does the magazine use, develop or
challenge forms and conventions of media
products?
• It uses the types as it has the headlines, subheadings and all
the things that a normal magazine would have.
• It develops the media types as the social side of things is
developing meaning that there are many different social
networking sites that the target audience will now be able to
use to read the magazine or get the information that they are
looking for, this would be Twitter, FaceBook. Also the use of
different web addresses that they will use for the magazine,
making it easier to get the information. Also YouTube and
music are becoming more advanced so the magazine will
have to follow the technical changes with in the magazine.
• It challenges the types as they are challenging the
stereotypes of the magazine buyers as they may not usually
go for a magazine that has information in it about YouTubers
and home made music.
4. How does your media product represent particular
social groups?
• My magazine presents a positive representation of the
younger generation as they will be able to understand
how YouTube works and who has come out of it.
• It will also help them gain the knowledge of YouTube
and ensure that they know how important it is to some
people.
• The more the younger generation know about the music
the more they are aware of what is happening around
them.
• I wanted to be able to help the younger generation get
their views heard and have a chance to see how good
difference is, as people with YouTube channels could be
seen as being different.
5. What kind of media institution might distribute your
media product and why?
• Bauer institute may want to distribute this magazine as they will
have a gap in there sales for a magazine like this.
• As it will be different to the ‘normal’ magazines that they sell these
being ‘Q’, ‘Kerrang’ and ‘Mojo’. This will be more about live music
and this edition will be magazine about YouTube but the other
editions are about live music in general and where you will be able
to listen to live music.
• This meaning that Bauer may want to distribute this magazine as
they may be the only institution that will distribute that will sell live
music magazines. Also the institution is local which works well with
the magazine as the magazine is all about local music.
6. Who would be the audience for you media
product?
• This magazines audience will be people aged around
mid teens (15/16) to early 20s, as they will be the ones
interested in the magazine and where they will be able to
listen to live music.
• Also it will be people who are interested in knowing new
information about new artists around, getting to know
them better and having a better understanding of what
they are doing and how important it is to them.
7. How did you attract/address your audience?
• To help me address my audience I made a questionnaire
to give out to my target audience and then got the
feedback and made my magazine match the feedback.
• The cost of the magazine, colours and images used will
help attract the audience. It helps the audience realise
that they now have something that they want. Live music
hasn’t got a specified magazine for that genre so the
audience don’t know what’s on and what’s not.
• Also it helps being local as they will be able to know
what’s happening down the road from them.
• Also the use of having well known artists in my magazine
will help address the audience as this will be the artists
that they know and listen to.
8. What have you learned about technologies from
the process of constructing this project?
• It is time consuming to produce a good product. It was hard to
get my head around the different technologies that I had to
use when creating the product like Photoshop and InDesign.
• The quality of the production will be better when there is more
time put into it. So the longer I spent on creating the product
the better it would look.
• The advantages of using Photoshop and InDesign was that
my magazine will look a lot better and have better effects on
it, and making it look like a professional had made it. Using
Photoshop and InDesign is better than using publisher as it
means on us using more skills to be able to understand how
to use new software's.
9. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you
feel you have learnt in the progression from it
too the original project?
• From the preliminary
task to the main task I
learnt that using
Photoshop will be better
because it will make the
magazine look more
appealing and attractive
to the audience.
• Also the preliminary task
took shorter amount of
time to do as I was using
a different software, this
meant that it didn’t look
up to the standard of the
main tasks magazine.

10. Feedback from target audience.
• As we was working in a group there was
different editions to the magazines, and mine
was made to look more girly and pretty to attract
the female side of the target audience and this
was shown well I believe in my front cover.
• I also asked the people in the group I was
working with to take a look at my magazine and
see if it matched the look I was going for. They
told me that it did and that I done a good job at
it.
