1. Download OverDrive
This is the app you will be using to read
e-books or listen to audiobooks from the
library system.
Open the App Store
On your device, find and tap on the App
Store icon.
Search
Within the App Store, tap on Search and
search for the OverDrive app.
Download
In the search results, swipe through the re-
sults to find OverDrive. Tap the FREE but-
ton, and then tap INSTALL. (If you have
previously downloaded this app and are re-
installing it, there will be a small cloud and
arrow symbol instead. Tap on that.)

OverDrive Account
In order to read library e-books or listen to
library audiobooks, you will need an Over-
Drive account. If you already have one, you
can sign in. If not, follow these steps to sign
up for a new account.
Open the App
On your device, find and tap on the Over-
Drive app icon.
Sign Up
Once the app has loaded, it will bring up
a screen with a blue Sign Up button. Tap
this and scroll down to fill out the “Enter
your details:” form with your name, email
address, and a password to create your
account. Tap Sign Up. You will be sent an
email from OverDrive to confirm. Check
your email, open the email from OverDrive,
and click the verification link. This will open
up a browser to Overdrive.com with a mes-
sage that says “Congratulations, your ac-
count has been verified.”
B. SIGN UP
Add the TNRD Library
To get e-books and audiobooks from the Li-
brary To Go, you will first need to find and
add your library.
Search
To access the OverDrive menu, tap on the
menu lines icon in the upper left. Tap on
Add a Library to bring up the search func-
tion.
Browse
Tap on the button that says Browse for Li-
braries. Tap on Canada, and then tap on
British Columbia. This will bring up a list
of all library systems in BC. Scroll down to
the T’s until you find Thompson -Nicola
Regional District. Tap on that. Then tap on
British Columbia Libraries. This will add BC
Libraries to your OverDrive menu for future
access, and bring you to the British Colum-
bia Libraries website.
Sign In
Once you are in the British Columbia Librar-
ies site on your device, tap on Sign In in the
upper right corner. You will need to select
your library sytem (Thompson-Nicola) and
then enter your library card number (found
on the back barcode on your library card)
and then tap the Sign In button.

Download Titles
This is a very basic introduction to getting
library e-books and audiobooks. For a more

Note: a wi-fi connection is recommended to
avoid using data.
Browse Titles
If you have been following the previous
steps to set up OverDrive, you will already
be in the BC Libraries website and signed in.
On the front page, you can view recent Hot
Titles and New Arrivals. Audiobooks have a
headphones icon in the upper right corner,
and e-books have a little book icon in the
upper right corner. Dark headphones/book
icons are a sign that the title is available.
Faded icons show titles that are checked
out and can be placed on hold.
Search
You can search the online catalog by tap-
ping the magnifying glass icon towards the
top of the page.
Check it Out!
Once you have found an available title, tap
on the cover to enter the individual book
page. There will be a large Borrow button.
Tapping on that will move the book into
your online Bookshelf where you can then
tap on Download. This will download the
title to your OverDrive device Bookshelf.
Once loaded, tap on the menu lines icon in
the upper left corner to bring up the Over-
Drive menu. Tap Bookshelf and then tap
the cover of the book that you just down-
loaded. Enjoy!

Check Out the Catalogue!
By 2014, Library To Go reached nearly
30,000 items. Some popular titles may re-
quire placing a hold, but there are generally
several thousand titles available for check-
out at any given time.
There are over 100 subjects to enjoy, rang-
ing from non-fiction to fiction to young
adult to children.
