1. Mr. Dacl’do Tales
Tale N°1
Mr. Dacl’do and the 5 phases of
the fear of change
in the Opossum Tribe
Damiano Dragone Feb. 2013
2. Phase 1: Delirium of Omnipotence
The first six months in the Tribe Just joined the tribe, Mr. Dacl’do feel very
motivated and all components of the tribe make
him feel important and able to freely express and
share his ideas and skills.
Mr. Dacl’do is heard and considered as a
reference for his fantasy and lessons learned
elsewhere.
These are adapted to the reality of the tribe as
they are recognized as right for the common
good.
Mr. Dacl’do is convinced, therefore, to be a good
communicator that can be followed respecting the
individual components of the tribe without
affecting the established order.
This vortex of satisfactions leads Mr. Dacl’do to
give his best because, now, he knows that he can
give his own personal contribution to the growth
of the tribe to better adapt it to the changes of the
surrounding environment.
3. Phase 2: Wonder
W
At a certain point the mechanism seems to
The second six months stop, or better, Mr. Dacl’do begins to
realize that some things had not turned as
he believed but had remained as such as
he found them.
Nevertheless, everyone agreed and
seemed to have given their contribution for
changing those things being all convinced
of the need to do so.
Indeed, everything seems to be changed
remaining the same.
He is amazed on what he sees.
Mr. Dacl’do thinks to have misinterpreted
these new situations then, now, while
pushed by a self-motivation and self-
esteem, he starts to try to understand the
phenomenon.
Why nobody told me anything?
4. Phase 3: Boh!
During the next three Mr. Dacl’do realises to be not able to explain
months the phenomena
5. Phase 4: Low Profile
Three more months
Mr. Dacl’do, only now notices that the
members of the tribe have always
maintained a low profile to escape from
a danger., but Mr. Dacl’do does not
know what it may be.
Mr. Dacl’do, now, only knows he does
not know what is the danger and, day by
day, is taken by the thought of escape.
Then, in the meanwhile, he begins
himself to keep a low profile.
6. Phase 5: The Opossum
Three more months Mr. Dacl’do realises, shocked, that the
members of the tribe appear to him as
the Opossum that, when thinks there is a
danger, pretends to be dead and then,
spends the rest of his life without
drawing attention by keeping a low
profile.
The Opossum prefers, knowing it, to stay
in his habitat being afraid of the world
around.
Here it is, Change!
This is the danger for the Opossum.
Turning off the thought of escape for the
fear of change, the Opossum is dead
inside.
Mr. Dacl’do is a human being, not an
Opossum, he does not want to die, he is
driven by Change.
