3. Where than 346 people participated in a brainstorming workshop to generate ideas for the
future of Ala Moana Beach Park. People came from as far as 40 miles away to participate in this
initial workshop focusing on identifying what people loved about Ala Moana park.
Participants worked in teams at 21 tables to identify suggestions for improvements and discuss
and prioritize new ideas for the park.
Mayor Caldwell outlined some initial ideas for early improvements to the park including
replenishing the sand, improving the frontage along Ala Moana Boulevard, greening the park
and new trees and plantings, bathroom improvements, and improvements to the path around
Magic Island.
