 My grandmother is 74.
 She has 3 siblings, one brother and two
sisters and she is the oldest.
 They lived in the country and my
grandmother´s parents had a cow and
some chickens to be self-sufficient.
 My grandmother until sixth grade got a ride to school from the
teacher, because she had a mini van. Later she had to go by bus,
but in order to get the she had to walk around 20 minutes.
 School started at 9 and finished at 3:30.They hade a 1 hour lunch
break
 There were 4 grades in each class. There were two classrooms.
The first class had the children from first grade to fourth grade,
and the second one had the children from fifth to eighth grade.
Each grade had a row and there were around 8 kids per row.
Each class had a pot-belly stove which the teacher had to put
firewood in.
 They had to eat their lunch that they brought from home at their
desk
 They spent around an hour and a half a day doing homework,
and they had to read a lot, however she liked it
 The games that they played the most were kick the can and hop
scotch:
 KICK THE CAN: Popular game in the U.S.A. It is like hide and
go seek but instead you have to kick a can to be safe and to save
your partners.
 HOP SCOTCH: It consists in throwing a stone and while
jumping you have to bend over and pick up the stone. The game
has got two types of squares the first one has just got one square
but the other one has got two squares. If you land on the one that
only has one square you have to stand with just one foot, but if
you land on the one that has two squares you can stand with two
feet. The hardest thing of this game is if the stone lands in the
one that only has one square, because you have to bend over to
pick up the stone while standing on just one foot
 She usually played outside but she could play checkers
and read inside when the weather wasn’t good. She
didn´t have a TV in her house.
 During the WEEK: She could play 1 hour a day
 During the WEEKENDS: She could play all most all
day as long as she came home for breakfast, lunch and
dinner. The rest of the time she could play.
 She had no supervision because there wasn´t anything
dangerous around them because they lived in the
country. She didn´t have way to contact them if
something happened, she just had her voice. Her
parents weren´t worried if she got home late because
she didn´t have a lot of places to go, so they knew
where she was. Her parents didn´t let her go to places
like the shopping center because there weren’t any
near them. She could go see her relatives by herself
because they lived up the road.
 Since she was the oldest she had to do more chores
than the rest of her brothers. She usually had to do the
dishes, the cooking, feed the chickens and the cows
and babysit her siblings.
Thanks for listening!
