4. WHAT CAUSES AN ILLNESS
TYPES OF ILLNESS:
• Non-infectiuos illness.
• Infectious illness. Are cause by harmful
bacteria and viruses. They can be:contagious
or non-contagious.
5. BACTERIA
• Bacteria are unicellular micro-organisms.
There are two types of bacteria:
• Benefial bacteria
• Harmful bacteria
8. VIRUSES
• A virus is not a micro-organism. It causes infectious
illnesses.
• Is not a livig thing but it needs cells to carry out its life
processes.

HEALING ILLNESSES
• Pathogenic micro-organismis can enter in our
bodies in different ways:
o Through the respiratory system.
o Through the digestive system.
o Throuh wounds and cuts.
10. HOW CAN WE PREVENT INFECTIONS?
• Disinfect wounds.
• Wash our hands before eating or handling
food.
• Wash uncooked food.
• Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze.
• Do not share eating utensils.
11. VACCINES
Vaccines introduce into our bodies the microorganisms or virus that is making us ill.
The body reacts to the virus and produces
substances to destroy it .
12. HOW DO WE TREAT
INFECTIONS?
• Infections caused by bacteria are treated with
antibiotics.
• Infections caused by fungi are treated with
anti-fungal.
• Infections caused by viruses are only treated
with medicines that help to reduce
sysmptoms
